If we lose its over already. People can cry 'Doom and gloom' and threaten to burn me as a heretical malcontent but we all know deep down its the truth.

Tippy tappy passing football doesn't work unless you are Barcelona. Swansea played that way under Brendan Rodgers. Brilliant holding on to the ball but absolutely toothless up front. What the hell is wrong with just going for the jugular? Win games 5-4. Attack is the best form of defence.

You could level the accusation that I am cynical just now, but when I look at the Premier League table, I honestly don't think there is ANYONE that we are capable of beating at this moment.

We are bottom of the table and deservedly so.

Norwich have a canny, young Manager with lots of ideas and a growing reputation.

The PL table doesn't lie at any moment of the season and I honestly don't see us emerging from the bottom three at any point this season.

How I would love to be wrong, but fear this season is going to be record-breakingly bad for Newcastle United.

At home to Watford was supposed to be our launch-pad but the players crumbled and now any game looks beset with difficulty.

Away win for Norwich City :(

I'm sorry to say but our fixtures have been the hardest ever to start a season with. Your being negative and wrong.

We will concede at least one goal and its 50/50 to concede 2 goals. We average about 1.2 goals at home over the last 15 home games.

    Norwich win 3-1.!!

    Amen to that brother.
If we are gonna go down.. we might as well go down at least giving it a go.
As you intimate.. we may just surprise one or two and turn things around.

I think I'll wait to see who comes back unscathed from the Internationals before making some rash exclamation of a WIN.
Janmaat inured and withdrawn from Dutch squad?

The Netherlands are out and it's a flight to Kazakstan so hopefully he's 'doing a Giggs'.

I did say it was possible to say I was being cynical.

It's that I haven't seen enough over 90 mins from the team to suggest we have enough to get out of this mess.

Hardest ever start to a season?
I really don't think so. Watford at SJP should be a 3-point banker.

It may be correct that i'm being negative but sadly that is honestly the way I feel about this squad just now.

It's all very well chipping-in with short, positive comments, but the fact remains we are bottom of the league and fully deserving of that position.

Basically, we have dropped three points this season. Watford at home should have been ours.

Our points haul from the remaining fixtures is about what you would have expected, albeit we got points where we wouldn't have expected them and dropped them where we might have hoped for them.

The question is whether we have started playing properly or not. I can't tell. The Man City game is the season so far in a nutshell. Half of it encouraging, half of it horrific, overall pretty bad.

    http://www.skysports.com/football/teams/newcastle-united/results

Home vs Southampton, away vs Swansea, away vs West Ham, Home vs Watford.

Four fixtures which shouldn't frighten any team worth their salt in the Premier League.

We took ONE point from those fixtures.

Sure, the games against Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal & Man City are not where we are realistically looking to earn much.
The irony being that we took TWO points from those fixtures.

If being bottom of the league at this point doesn't cause alarm-bells to ring somewhere, I think there's a real level of head-burying going on.

Add to that our Home defeat to Championship team, Sheffield Wednesday, and the fact we have now won ONCE in 19 PL games and i'm thinking we're done for.
