It is not that, it's the privacy of that data, which is protected under European law but once the data gets sent to the US that privacy is not guaranteed This may require tech giants to host their data in Europe and create duplicate infrastructures, basically it will cost them more to adhere to European law because of the differences with the US where no data is really private tbf But if you want to operate in two different legal environments to make profits, then don't fuking bitch about having to adapt.
