It wasn't a fantastic save at all. It was a perfectly routine one.

Whether he could have done more in terms of where he parried it... I think it would be a bit harsh to say that.

It was about eight yards out and the striker had time to hit it well

Anyway, this is a MOM thread which I think we've littered enough. The next **** performance by McGregor I'll be back. I don't expect you'll be waiting too long, history supports that.

I love your first paragraph in particular as you criticise people for doing exactly what you are doing. You're looking at one performance from McGregor as if it's his second coming. He's been performing at a less than acceptable standard for the whole of last season and for the most part this season. That's not fans jumping on his back based on one performance, it's because he has been ****ing **** for ages. You know that, I know that, most people with anything but air between their ears also know that. Even Steve Bruce knows that - he tried bringing in a replacement. Is Steve Bruce a '****tard' because he doesn't share your over inflated opinion of McGregor?

I'm sorry, but that's rubbish. I can't find a link anywhere, but I wish I could. I just watched it again on TV (I haven't deleted the C5 recording yet) and it's hit from a yard outside the box, low, not particularly hard and not that far to his right. It was a very, very routine save.

You've done it again. I just gave you examples of when he's played well this season and you've reduced my point to suit yours. I'm NOT basing my opinion on one game, why do you keep insisting I am? The whole team was terrible last season, McGregor was a part of that team and yes, he had his fair share of mistakes. Bruce clearly does share my opinion of McGregor because he hasn't rushed out and brought in a loan goalkeeper. We could've bought a new goalkeeper (you mentioned somewhere else that we couldn't afford more than two keepers at Championship level, not sure what you've based that on - in our promotion season we had Stockdale, Oxley and Jakupovic) in the Summer, but Bruce didn't identify it as a crisis area; it certainly wasn't as alarming as our profligacy in front of goal. He did mention that we'd looked into it, but he obviously thought the money would be better spent elsewhere and he's right.

And as I said in my previous post, I wouldn't be surprised if Mcgregor does make another mistake, most Championship level keepers do. You won't see me calling him a **** keeper or claiming he isn't good enough to be playing in the Championship. If the mistake is as bad as the one at Wolves, then yeah, I'll say he was crap that game and he had a crap moment, situational analysis doesn't represent my opinion of him as a goalkeeper. If he continued to make mistakes like the Wolves game on a regular, week to week basis at this level then there might be an argument for him not being Championship quality.

I just looked at it now for the first time after the match. The shot was from just outside the box but I was right behind the goal and it didn't look an easy save to make. I think TV makes everything look easy.

McGregor is number two in Scotland (and has 33 caps) and was Rangers goalkeeper for 11 years. Plenty of football people seem to rate him.

We didn't offer Harper a contract because we had two keepers on our books already, that was entirely down to relegation and the need for two keepers only and to trim the wage bill. Harper revealed as much when he was commentating on match on RH.

The thing is he hasn't been great. He's been just OK in those games. He made errors at Charlton away and at Brighton away. He is supposed to be a Premier League keeper - so in the Championship he should look outstanding every week.

Bruce clearly DOESN'T share your view, we did actively try and sign a goalkeeper but couldn't agree a fee, I suspect he doesn't want a loan keeper as he wants to sign a permanent keeper in January.

McGregor cost us some crucial points last season that could have made the difference between relegation or staying up.

Championship clubs generally operate with 2 first team keepers and Premier League clubs generally operate with 3.

In February 2015 only Tim Howard was considered worse than Allan McGregor, though Allan had occupied the prized bottom spot for most of the season, so I am sure that normality would have been resumed.

Completely agree Tuckin. I've watched it a few times and it was far less difficult than the one Jakupovic was slated for in the cup game a few weeks before when he pushed a hard shot out and it hit the forward following up and bounced into the net. He then saved three penalties to give us the win but he's still regarded by many as a goalkeeping disaster. I'm pleased for McGregor that he seems to be recapturing his pre-injury form but theres no denying that his string of errors cost us valuable points last season and earlier in this campaign.

He went after Kuciak and knew days before the deadline that it wasn't going to happen. So why didn't he pursue another keeper if he was so concerned? Lot of games between September and January, why would he leave it to chance unless he had faith in the keepers we already have?

You don't really know that he isn't after a goalkeeper as we speak. Perhaps his preferred goalkeeping target is only available as a permanent transfer. Though It's safe to say it is more than likely we'll have another keeper in January.

Thanks for keeping your response concise rather than the piffle I normally have to dredge through.

McGregor won by 12 points and had 4 times the points as Hernandez who finished well off 3rd place.
