My respect for Rodgers was over when he quit Swansea for Liverpool. I think his arrogance towards Southampton makes his sacking all the sweeter but if he ends up at Sunderland as suggested and ends up getting them relegated, it will be perfect! Liverpool suffered from the creation of the Premier League more than any other team as their demise coincided with the redistribution of wealth that was a consequence of Sky's involvement. It is strange how they have changed from a club that dominated in the 1970's and was loved by football fans in general to a club that has generally under-achieved and been totally eclipsed by Manchester United. Ferguson's achievements dwarfed the combined efforts of Shankly, Paisley and Daglish. I think the club has struggled to come to terms with the game since the 1990's and the dominating presence of Manchester United seemed to lead Liverpool to flirt between a whole range of managers with none ever being able to re-address the balance. At first Rodgers seemed to look like the perfect fit but his team never seemed to come to terms with missing the top spot they got so close to making their own. That said, any team with Suarez in the squad should have made an impression. However, his comments regarding Southampton only serve to make his comeuppance richly deserved.
I wonder if they had a whip round in the changing room and gave him Lovren's "head" as a leaving present ...................................? oh and TwatCheeksies' beard
Not sure that Liverpool's board come out too well. They must have had this all lined up and the new guy is there but yet to be announced. Harry Redknapp?
Well betting's suspended on Klopp so looks like he'll be shouting at Lovren anytime soon. Liverpool fans seem to think he's the bees knees. I'm not so sure. Whoever gets the job has a fair bit of work to do with 3yrs of Brenda and that odd recruitment team's inspired signings. I wonder if they'll keep that structure in place. I rather think Klopp might be the sort of chap who likes to sign players he rates.
Maybe his off the field conduct lost him the dressing room!! Anyone remember Tommy Docherty being sacked for being a bit unprofessional?
Even with United's past 2 seasons of nihilo-spending, Liverpool have only spent £24m less than United in the PL era, it's quite staggering. And to think it was United in the 70-80's spending high to win a few cups, and a rare title tilt.
When did Man Utd have a title at the title between 67 and 92? I am sure 4th was their highest finish in that time.
Lord Sugar @Lord_Sugar - "Rodgers was over rated Suarez made him look good . Since he left LFC went down hill."
