As far as LVG is concerned, there's none so blind as them that won't see. LVG's style of football can be summed up easily... please log in to view this image
Was saying exactly that last season. I'm no longer that extreme but considering we have Jones and Rojo it has to be questioned why he played Young as full back which really ****ed us as he just is not a defender. Not hindsight either, merely quite ****ing glaringly obvious. We were on the back foot from the word go and Arsenal quite naturally attacked a weak defence. Fair play to them and to Wenger, who out did van Gaal big time in this one.
I saw this coming. Our slow start to every games was going to cost us and it happened today. Southampton almost capitalized, so did Wolfsburg and almost every teams we have played this season. Why so we have to wait until 30 mins into the game before we start playing? Wenger knew this and capitalized on it.
Posted this earlier... BTW I have no criticism of any of the players. As I said a few times, there's possession football and then there's possession football. Neville said something very apt after their 3rd goal "Arsenal's passing has been superb. Every one of Arsenal's passes has had a purpose." Our previous games flatter to deceive our so-called possession football.
Credit to Arsenal for a very good performance, they were the better side by miles. LVG is really dropping the ball on playing Rooney consistently. If I was manager I would have dropped him a good five games ago.
Memphis will be fine. He's shown glimpses in the league and had some good CL performances too. Martials just hit the ground running, I thought he would score today even at 3 down as he was wanting it. You could tell he didn't care it was 3-0, he kept trying to run at them. Had he scored at the end of the first, we might have had a small chance.
guess last season Carrick was rock for you. What happened in few months, all the last year players are absolute dire regardless of the team.
They've seen the light, realising LVG is a spoofer I think we'll find that while LVG's tactics may have paid off last season, many a good side will work them out this season. We'll steam roller (and I use the term loosely as it will be like watching paint dry) quite a bit of relegation fodder and middle-table mediocrity. We'll also hover around 3rd/4th but that doesn't equate to, nor should it be confused with, actually mounting a title challenge.
That would be the finishing target. This team is not strong to be true title challengers. For me I'd be happy if we are 3 or 4. Of course it would be great if we were to challenge for the title but to me that would be ahead of schedule . Yes, even with £300m spent.
Here's the thing... If we think United are only good enough for 3rd and 4th, then I would slap Arsenal into that category too. There has been nothing this season for me to suggest that Arsenal are league above United. No, I'm not talking about this single game. Over the stretch, I think United have enough to finish above Arsenal. Yrs, Arsenal are great in their day, but overall, they are not consistent performers. This means the only real title contender is City due to their experience and balance within the team.
To lose like that to Arsenal of all teams is very frustrating. If it was City or Chelsea when there on form, then you can kind of accept it, but to be played off the park by a side that usually fold in these big games is very concerning. Fair play to Arsenal, they destroyed us inside 20 mins. But you have to question our approach to this game, we really need to show more effort and more fight early in matches. Playing to patient can go badly wrong as it did today
He wasn't our worst player. All the players were a pile of ****. To say that they played like a conference side would be insulting the conference league. Arsenal cut through the side as if the players were not there. I just couldn't believe what I was watching. LVG must take some responsibility but so do the players. It is not as if they were inexperienced. LVG and the players should apologise to the fans like teams like Sunderland and Newcastle occasionally do after being thrashed.
Agree with all of that. Hey I'm not going to pander to the bipolar boom bust expectations of Arsenal fans from day to day. Whether head to heads or over the course of a season, they remain spoofers. But if we agree we should be above them, then we should be title contenders. With this squad I'm sure of it. 5 games ago City were invincible, 2 games ago they were soft centred, then they slap a very **** Newcastle side (which only highlights how poor we were against them) and suddenly they're invincible again. Our squad can compete with City. Trust me, the title is there... for United if they want it enough. But not with this manager.
