    I think you'll fid that Villa fought an awful lot harder to kep Downing than they did Ashley Young. Why would that be, then? In addition, I suggest you consult supporters of Aston Villa on this question.

    The rep thing is one thing I haven't got a clue about.I had four and now I've none.I can't make it out,its as much use as Carrick in penalty area anyway.

    I think it was more to do with his contract situation, whereas Young was in the last year of his. <ok>

    More like Downing was seen as a more important player to Villa than Young.

    My brother in laws a Villa fan.He was happy for the money they got for your saviour.
    As for the link.The less said about that the better.It hold's about as much water to your argument as a sieve.
    What your telling me is that because McLeish came out and said "We want to keep Downing"(who he knew Liverpool were looking at)but was unsure of the Young situation(who was onto the last year of his contract and had made his mind up to go to Man Utd),he obviously thought Downing was the better player.
    I'll agree to disagree..going round in circles here.

    The current Villa manager and the previous Villa manager's opinions on Downing are more relevant and carry more importance on the subject than you're brothers thoughts.

    But if you want to think utd got the better player and the better deal fine.
