Referee was shocking. 2 clear pens not given. FFS. But, apart from the ref being a ****, I think we've held our own today.
The ref hasn't been that bad. Some of you are making out as though he scored the free kick himself. Mane dived in the box and fully deserved his yellow. Van Dijk was getting his shirt pulled, but it would have been a brave ref to have given it, with his arms flailing everywhere. Saints were crap for first 20, and then an absolute force for the final 15. An all-round excellent game we have here.
Let's make this clear - the ref has been ****ing awful. I'm not defending him it's just I don't like the personal abuse - calling him a twat etc. As someone who has been on the end of such abuse (and worse) I know its not nice. I know he won't see this but it's still out of order. We don't know what he's like off the pitch - he's probably a decent bloke.
Cant agree with you there Black. They were 2 clear penalties. A little bit of shirt pulling happens, but something that blatant has to be a foul.
According to Wikipedia Mr. Davis had scored 4 goals for us before tonight (ok a couple of years ago) but anyway "PROLIFIC!"
You do realise we can only judge him for being a ref? Calling him a twat is a reaction to him being ****. Calling him a twat of a ref is calling him a twat ref. We can't judge his personal life so we can't call him a twat human being.
If you run 40 yards to check if the ball is in the corner quadrant because the home fans are baying you are definitely a TWAT!
In the penalty area. So it should have been a pen. The defender didn't make contact with the ball at all. He made contact with Mane.
For me that was the more of the questionable. But you watch it again in real time, without the benefit of slow-motion, remembering that the ref has one eye on the in-swinging ball.
Sometimes it isn't just the big calls though, somehow he allowed Ramires to foul freely for 40 minutes before doing anything about it. It's almost like it's just expected that he will do that every game so gets the benefit of the doubt instead of being forced to pack it in from the off.
Yes but why can't you just say what the **** was that ref? or that was a **** decision rather than calling him a twat.
