Applying for a work visa for the states ( or any other country for that matter) is an absolute nightmare. Something as stupid as using your mothers married named instead of maiden name can cause delays or rejections. And that's from personal experience.
Take a look on sky sports they say he has a conviction for robbery from when he was 15, should fit in well around benwell. If applying for a work visa in the USA is so difficult how come Man Utd had no problems. Is because they don't have any gun toting violent robbing bastards in their squad.
It's the indavidual who has to apply for the visa and like I said, any small cock up in paper work will give you problems.
Sky sports may be running that line, but if you are free of bother for 5 year, you will be given a work visa by the states. So any crime like that as a minor will have **** all to do with anything.

If you learned your comprehension right then you will realise that the part referring to a conviction is actually about Ranger while SSN website states that Cabaye's failure to obtain a visa was because of a "minor technical problem which has now been resolved.
