Agreed, anyone in a cup competition has some chance of winning it, though of course that chance varies and currently I can't say it looks likely for Arsenal in the CL!

Not really much of an achievement? And yet we are the only team to have done it since the 1800s. Chelsea won more but also lost more. I was going to put a bracket mentioning the Chelsea team as I knew someone would pipe up and disagree, but in the end figured it wasn't particularly relevant to the point I was making at the time which was about times when Arsenal fans would of had the upper hand over other fans based on the teams success. I suppose I could of mentioned either of our double winning seasons too but the Invincibles seemed the obvious choice.

And yeah tbh Ive been really pleased with our recent trophy wins and enjoyed the last couple of seasons despite the bumps along the way. With a handful of teams with top resources in the league it is difficult to win trophies regularly.

I get a bit picky with the "invincible" thing (maybe a bit of jealousy).
Yes you are the first team since the 1800s to do it, but I always think one day some team could do it and finish 10th.
Points make prizes and that year you managed enough points for the prize, other years you might not have.

Until that happens, let alone a team going unbeaten and winning the actual thing, it's not an actual argument that you just put forward to discount our achievement, just a 'hypothetical' to try and downplay what we did.

Like I said, maybe a bit of jealousy on my part.
I still think the most ever points gained in a season is a much better achievement.

Out of interest, if a team won 37 games and lost 1 but another team won 26 and drew 12 which would you class as the better team?

I don't get what's to be jelous, when a rival is good, you just acknowledge it. For example I have no problem in saying the United team of 2008 was one of the best teams i've seen, i remember when u beat us 2-1, i was mad, but i admired the football you guys played.

As for your Q, that situation never happened. We may have drawn 12 games, but we were still the best team in the country that year which is why we won the league, winning the league and not losing to any of the top teams is an achievement no matter what way you want to look at it.

Not losing a single game means you are unbeatable, being able to say you are unbeatable is fantastic, you can feel like a real champ because nobody can beat you.

Can't argue with any of that A87, it's my tribal mentality.
As you say, only one team has managed to go unbeaten in over 100 years and I don't see another doing it any time soon hence the jealousy angle :emoticon-0100-smile

LVG says he thinks Wenger is a great manager because he keeps the board, players and fans happy even after 11 years without a title. Hmm...

At least LVG is being respectful towards a fellow manager, which something Maureen is incapable of doing. Fankly I want to see a good game of football, it's a shame that this version of manure is one of the worst sides to see for many years.

It's actually a very good side, one of the best for many years in fact.... the trouble is the way they're being made to play. That's what's most frustrating for me. I appreciate results are all that matter to some, but I don't buy into this feeelosofeee that you have to choose between free flowing, expansive, entertaining football OR results.

Of course it's a good collection of players but LVG is making them play some dreadful stuff.

By come game time I doubt many fans will care how they play as long as they get the result...

LVG unlike the classless one, shows some actual class and respect for Wenger, there's nothing unique about it, but with all the disrespect that has come from Mo's mouth, it's a nice breath of fresh air.

It's a shame that some Arsenal fans don't show some "actual class and respect" towards Wenger <whistle>

Who has disrespected him? Or is simply saying that someone 'isn't good enough to manage us' disrespectful in your eyes even if true?

This is just a forum, so we can vent sometimes, it's not going out to the world in public, :D.

I posted a few days ago that United's first halfs recently have been non-events as they passed the ball to death while working out their opponent's game plan. They then went on to win games in the second half. Today Arsenal completely blew that strategy apart by going at United from the kick off. It's not often Wenger out thinks an opposition manager but he did it in spectacular fashion today.
