So you think he is worth his 250k a week, more than any other player in the squad?

So what's ur point? We should wait until we drop a couple of points before he is dropped? The team should continue playing with 10 men just because they want to carry super Rooney along? This is the same thing that happened with Gerrard for Liverpool and England at the world cup.

He's not worth his place in the team at the minute. He should be dropped. History tells us that if he is he will most likely "want away".

Doubt it, Rooney is as money driven as they come, and he won't find another club stupid enough to pay him the money we pay him, so I can see him sitting on the bench, and seeing out his contract.

The only reason he kicked off before when he was dropped was because his stock was still very high, and he knew other clubs would pay him mega money. The way he is playing at the moment though, the only way he'll get a move is if he takes a huge pay cut. Which I very much doubt he'd be prepared to do

I prefer to reserve judgement on him. he has performed poorly recently. But to jettison him on the basis of that I think is premature just as it was premature for some here to call for LVG's head because of his "silly" obsession with possession (No need to mention names as you know who you are !!!).

At a time when this ship was in deep trouble (we are not certain to be out of it yet IMO) he was the one stabilsing influence. Yes, in the end he may need to be benched or even dropped permanently, but FFS can't you give one of your own players a ****ing break? <doh>

I couldn't give a flying **** if the team is winning with him. :bandit:

Just like some were calling for Young to be sold, LVG to be sacked, Smalling to be got rid of just a few weeks ago...

If he plays well tomorrow he will have played well for pretty much the first time in the league this season. And 1 good performance in 8 doesn't prove anything to anyone. It's about consistently playing well over a number of games, not just 1

He's having a poor spell but what grates with me is the fact that people's memories seems to have been erased. It really pisses me off how quickly people jump on some players who've paid their dues' backs.

It's not sentiment, it's showing a bit of commitment to the club captain who's coming back from injury.
He's not being carried at all, to say we're playing with ten men is complete nonsense. He scored in the last league game.

If his form doesn't pick up then he should go on the bench but the calls for him to leave the club because he's having a bad spell are embarrassing. Or should be for those making them.

I've read through the thread and what's been missed is his general demeanor and body language. I don't mind if Rooney has a dry spell (or any player for that matter) but one thing I can't forgive is a lack of effort or a player moping around feeling sorry for himself. Fck off.

Can people not see the difference in his body language now compared to previous periods of drought. The guy used to have passion. In fact, when he had dry spells the one thing people could defend him with is the passion he showed on the pitch. And I don't use that word lightly. He ran and fought and made things happen, even if he himself wasnt scoring.

You could always tell the difference in a United side with Rooney compared to without Rooney. He was a presence and very much needed. Now, the team/squad has moved on, and sadly it seems to be moving on without him. Whether he's there or not, sadly doesn't make a difference. That's what's the biggest disappointment for me. When that happens, there's no sentiment I'm afraid. He should be benched at the least. Who knows, he may (although I have my doubts) may just get back that passion (the eye of the tiger <ok> )

I think that passion he used to have was all to do with his work rate, he used to run all over the pitch making a nuisance of himself to the opposition.

But at 29 after years of Big Macs and ***s, he doesn't have the energy levels to do that anymore. You can get away with not living a proffesional lifestyle when your 18-25 but as you start to approach 30 it will catch up with you

There's some truth to that. Clearly Ronaldo has more life and passion and ambition remaining despite being a year older and playing for the Spanish waiter. Watching Rooney I get the feeling he doesn't completely buy the LVG style tbh. The body language and frustration when he loses the ball or in his general play suggests to me he's not enjoying his football at the moment.

Rooney has to be one of the most over-rated completely average players of the last century.

It is almost a year since Wayne Rooney last scored an away goal in the Premier League. I cannot see any other striker keeping his place in any other team with that dismal record. Didn't Falcao do better than that before we shipped him out as being rubbish.................................trouble is that we won't get anything like the money for him as we would have got even last window.

It's clear as day Rooney just doesn't agree with the style of football we're playing at the moment. His body language speaks volumes. His demeanor to Carrick at the end of the game, his lack of effort, and he's just not enjoying playing football. He's been woeful. Part of that is him sulking bcos he's unhappy at something (imo Van Gaal). Not excusing that but it's not all his fault tbh.
