I'm guessing there'll be a very wide age range there. The biggest Rod Stewart fan I've encountered is in her 20's. I see he's touring the more provincial football stadiums. Also doing the likes of Plymouth, Carlisle and Inverness.
Norwich and Carlisle are the nearest places to the KC on this tour Rod is playing. A few up in Scotland mind...... shock horror.
There were loads of young people at The LG when I saw Rod, I got my tickets in W5, £107 each with booking fee and postage, im not going on pitch, what if it rains?, where are the bogs?where are the bars? they won't let pitch dwellers into the stands and vice versa, like at Craven Park for the boxing. Be portaloos and dodgy burger stands, good luck with that
HCC should not 'support' ( fund) non profitable events, but they do. Wrestling anyone? Ice hockey ? Darts? A full City Hall brings people into the city centre, who spend money on other things, this money goes into the local economy and creates jobs. East Riding Council have invested heavily in Brid Spa and in promoting top acts there, which sell out and attracts people to Bridlington, who spend money, some of which will finds it's way back to ERCC. It's called enterprise. As for the Airco Arena, those using it were only doing so because it was subsidised ( paid for by the ratepayers) it was losing £250k a year, when it should at least be paying for itself and not reliant on the SMC (the Allam family) to bale it out. It is still available to hire, and always has been which is why the Judge threw the case out of Court. The £100k HCC wasted on that injunction could have been spent promoting several acts who would fill the City Hall, put bums on seats and bring people into the city centre who would boost the night time economy of which several business owners are claiming is dying on it's feet.
Exactly my thinking, we were on ringside for the boxing and saw the carnage of people queuing for the toilets and stuck in the rain, luckily the ringside seats had their own VIP bar and toilets indoors otherwise it would have been miserable!

It does make most sense - yet NY was always clever with his subtlety......LL was also used on the NY subway system way back when....makes you wonder given his fondness of trains ?

Indeed he does. I still wonder why he would pick "Double E" and "Double L" as the ranch identities - random or contrived references to his train fascination ? Excellent album "Greendale" - along with "Zuma" my favourites.
As I said earlier, I think Hull City Hall is a great venue, but sadly it only has a 1,800 capacity, making it too small to be viable for most gigs. Brid Spa holds 3,800, which is apparently the minimum you need to make gigs viable for decent sized bands, Hull Arena holds the same, but it's a bit if a ****-hole. Obviously HCC plan to build a new venue around the same size, but I've no idea if they plan to host gigs themselves.
