  1. Alright in practice but it doesn't work like that in reality. The entire season is spread evenly at the start of the year but it never works out that way does it? Success bring fixture congestion. Clubs would be complaining more if they didn't have games coming thick and fast!

I've never said Di Maria was world class, he's a very good player but he isn't one of the best in the world. I said from day 1 we over spent on him aswell:biggrin:

I dont think it is just tough games in the league. I think any manager who plays an under-strength side to play a CL side (like for example Rodgers last year against Madrid) because there is a tough match at the weekend is moronic. I think people were referring to the fact that teams like Everton and WBA hold on to their best players and it is not that easy (as for Bayern or Real) for our top teams to reinforce their squads like real or Bayern can.

Having said, what happened to Arsenal was totally 100% self inflicted. Having beaten Leicester 5-2 in an exciting match, what does Wenger do for a match he himself said was amust win? Rest Cech, one of the top GKs in the prem and giving totally the wrong signal to his players. Same as Jose. He keeps playing Ivanovic but drops Terry and Hazard too.

I don't think anyone can argue that if we had a league consisting of 3 or4 teams of from each top league then Spain will come on top. This is because they have the strongest teams and they will win the trophies CL and Europa. But if you considered the combined strength of each league then I think it is not that clear cut. The gap between the bottom premiership club to the top is smaller than that between the bottom la liga side and the top.

Does that constitute the best? Because if we have Real and Barcelona at the very top and getting stronger and stronger to the detriment of the others in Spain getting weaker and weaker, with scorelines like 6-0 and 7-0, are we justified in calling La liga the best league in the world? For me it is a definite No.

I'll watch the few top clashes but then all the rest will be boring. For the neutrals outside Europe, the same thing will apply. They will follow the 2 top clubs but then couldn't care less about the other matches.

Why "rest" a 'keeper anyway? How tiring can it be?

This is exactly what I thought, a keeper doesn't need a rest, they could play a game everyday without a break and not get jaded. I reckon there's more to it, than is being let on:biggrin:

Pretty much agree with all of that, especially the part about resting players in the Champions League. The league is all well and good, but the Champions League is still by far the most important to me. You can't beat seeing your team win the Champions League, it trumps any domestic success

Tbf I could see Bayern Real Barca winning 8 0 in the PL against the Villas and Sunderlands, Barca were just hammered by Celta Vigo 4 1 recently too.
