<peacedove> EPL has no place in the Europe anymore, before all the English clubs that qualify
for Champion League usually come out of the group stages. Chelsea and Arsenal losing last night,
Manchester United and Manchester City to raise the Union jack tonight.
EPL are going to be lucky to have two or three clubs getting into the last sixteen this time round.
Certainly Arsenal have a fight in their hands.
    Best League in Europe?
    EPL- English Premier League.
    La Liga
    Bundesliga
    Serie A
    Primeira Liga
    Superleague
Financially English Premier League is stronger and that's why players want to come and play in England

Part of the reason that English sides are struggling more in the CL in recent seasons is due to the strength of the PL.

They can't afford to rest half their team before or after a CL tie, as many of the other top clubs across Europe can, as their leagues are piss weak

    Best to watch?
have the strongest team in it?
have most competition for top spots?
ha almost competition throughout the league?
germany has the best for fans given the cheapness and quality

    Spain have the strongest teams
England and probably Italy have the most competitor for the top spots
england has the best competition throughout the league

best is too broad, need to be more specific b

Thierry Henry thinks the EPL is the best league in the world.
Though there's a chance he might be getting paid to say so.

It's nothing more than subjective opinion though.

The biggest is the PL by a mile, but it won't be to everyones taste Worldwide.

  9. Well, you could mean best in quality or best in competition. La Liga as the best quality of players but the PL is far more competitive than other leagues.

    And

    Most competitive: yes
    Most exciting and unpredictable: yes
Most would pay to watch (for neutral global viewers): yes

So yes the "best" league in the world. Not the one which contains the best team or has the top players (Spain).

I agree in part, but there is no excuse for losing against the clubs with half the finances. Look at who beat Arsenal and Chelsea. They have a fraction of the resources and money. So losing to Juve or Barca or Bayern I agree with you but not losing against the sides currently beating England's top very rich teams

I voted La Liga because they are the league mopping up most European trophies

I prefer to watch the PL by far but you can't argue with the measure where they all compete EL\CL, and Spain is a clear winner over both comps

Foreign leagues have winter breaks and they organise league matches to suit the teams.

    PL is dictated by Sky.

In terms of actual football ability, PL is the worst. Awful defences and midfields.

Bundesliga is my favourite league - quality football on show, great young talent, and it's very well run.

    Spain have the strongest teams.

  17. I'll never buy into the winter break BS. It just means more fixtures in the rest of the calendar instead.

In terms of entertainment the Premier League is up there with the very best, however in terms of quality the Premier League has been in decline for a while now.
I don't buy the theory that our teams poor performances in Europe are down to having tough league games, as the games where just as tough 5-7 years ago, and back then we where dominant, having 3 of the 4 semi finalists and 2 in the final. That year too, no English side lost to a foreign side, we where only eliminated by each other, Liverpool beat Arsenal, Chelsea beat Liverpool and we Man Utd beat Chelsea, so the rest of Europe couldn't touch us that year.
I think the rise of Spanish football in recent years to a level above everything else has seen the best Premier League players leave for Spain, the likes of Ronaldo, Bale and then Suarez. 3 players who where the current PFA players of the year when they left. Where as we are getting the just short of top class players that Real and Barca don't want, the likes of Ozil, Sanchez and Di Maria. Good players, but not world class ones!
I think we will fight our way back up there, as there is just to much money in the Premier League for us not to. But it is worrying the way English sides are performing, especially as our 4th Champions League spot is now under serious threat form Serie A. So English teams really need to start improving sooner rather than later
