  2. He had Kuyt and Bellamy though. Coutinho wasn't exactly setting the world on fire in 2013-14 either <laugh>

You make it sound as if Suarez was crap before 13-14. He was still very good before that only he often missed chances because he was dribbling past 3-4 players and knackered by the time of shooting.

And Suarez's record at Ajax and International is prolific - he's always scored goals. So what's to say that 12/13 wasn't the exception rather than the rule?

  4. Nice interpretation. Wrong, but nice...<laugh>

Brod's only good season (2013-14) is be credited to Suarez. Luis is the only reason we finished second according to some. However, that conveniently forgets the fact that Suarez was also playing under Brod's guidance in 2012-13 and under Dalglish in 2011-12 too. Why did we not finish second (or thereabouts) in those seasons too if it was solely down to the player like some suggest?

One good season vs two lesser seasons would suggest the good was the exception.

Point is, you can't say Brod deserves no credit.

  6. Also going to expose their stupidity in letting a few players go whilst their new signings can't play until the new year <laugh>

Agree with you. My comment wasn't aimed at you.

Rodgers deserves credit for fitting them all into a system designed to get the u best out of them.

Also credit for persisting with Sterling who was close to leaving on loan.

But Suarez is the one who carried the team for large parts.

Goodness knows why that particular season before wasn't as good as the ONE. If one was trying to be rational (if ever football can be rational) then let's look at some cold facts:

There is some evidence (if one was willing to look at it) that Rodgers judgement of buying players has been relatively poor. Rodgers bought 31 players for £291,550,000. An average of £9.4m per player. Only a handful of these players were good, fitted into the team or successful. Even if you and I as non football managers had been asked to buy players at random, we would have similar or better success rates.

What i am saying in buying 31 (thirty one) players costing £291.5 million pounds, he was bound to get one or two who are good, one or two who could hit it off with Suarez. I do not think any one can now deny that Suarez was an exceptional talent and was a catalyst for the team and other team mates. Other team mates lifted their game. And not only that, he lifted Rodger's game too and made him a better manager. Suarez (with one or two other players) went to see Rodgers and told him that the passing at the back was too slow and that the ball needed to be passed to the front much faster.

This is not revisionism. This is accepting the facts. Even in retrospect. Suarez happened. He could have been as good or even better with another manager, who knows? Seeing how he is playing at Barca and how he plays for Uruguay that is not some fantasy.

Nope because they were committee signings.

Back to this committee that doesn't include Rodgers who's on the committee but he has the power to overrule the committee...(You know when the player is clearly ****e and everybody else on the committee doesn't want them)...:headbang:

And I'm not doubting it of course but is there a quote that says a wack load of players went and forced a change in Rodgers. I know I know I'm annoying wanting evidence all the time rather than schoolgirl chattering.....:emoticon-0169-dance:emoticon-0105-wink:

Could had had Sturridge in his first window but turned him down.

Then seemed to change his mind in Janaury, after he lost power .. <whistle>

Read the articles by the local journos like Barrett, Evans, Bascombe, King, Joyce. They've all confirmed it which players were pushed by committee and which were Rodgers personal picks.

So if Sturridge and Coutinho were committee signings doesn't that destroy the complaint that he always plays his own signings over committee signings?

A simple answer to this argument. The job is too big for all concerned.

Rodgers is out of his depth. FSG saw a brand and bought us ( for which we are all grateful) but they dont have a clue about "soccer"

The best thing that could happen is FSG sell up making a nice profit and the new owners hire a manager of the level we want to be at.

Failing that FSG get in someone like Cortese and give him the reigns.

Brendan Rodgers fell in love with Lovern when he scored the only goal at Anfield giving Southampton all the points.
