  3. Excluding the 2013-14 season, Roy Evans' reign (1994-98) brought the most entertaining football during my time supporting Liverpool (although alive, I can't recall the last eighties etc). Great attacking football with the likes of McManaman, Fowler, Collymore, Jones, McAteer, Redkanpp, Barnes (in his twilight years), Rush (same), etc.

Rafa's team came close but his tactics were always defend first.

There was some ****, but there was a lot of quality. Neil Young, Talking Heads etc etc. There is **** in every era. Just more in some.

Heralding in the 90's - The most expensive player at the time - not Barnes ............. Beardsley.

One of my faves, even as a United fan. Brilliant player.

It was your kits mate. It's best they're stricken from all memory as anyone who lived through the time is still trying to get over seeing them.

I actually remember a few games from the 60's. Honestly don't remember the WC (I do the 70 one) but I remember Celtic and United winning European Cups ( I cheered on both occasions - different times :emoticon-0145-shake ). I remember Emlyn Hughes in midfield playing like a young Gerrard. I remember Chris Lawler taking our pens, and Neil Young scoring for City in the final in '69. But that's it, really.

Too true - for entertainment that was team watching in some ways more entertaining than the 70's teams which were very effective but could be a bit clinical (though i still think Terry Macs goal in Rome was a moment of beauty - and yes i am that bloody old ) problem with Roy's team was the defensive frailities which were so bad that the goalies didnt trust the defenders and vice versa even though we kept swopping them.Is it just me or is that starting to feel very up to date.
PS is McManaman one of the most underated of our ex players due to the bad taste left by the manner of his leaving

90's was great for rnb and hip hop.

Don't remember Much about Liverpool bar Fowler and Torres.

  14. I never had the bad taste feeling with him tbh. I think it made it worse that he was one of the first known players to take advantage of the Bosman ruling but because we knew it was coming long before it didn't bother me as much as when Fowler was sold, that truly pissed me off more than any other player we've ever sold.

You're right about the issues being up-to-date too, we're even playing the same bloody system <laugh>

Not for me it wasn't. Grunge, Punk Rock and whatever you'd class the Chili Peppers as. But then I was a late 90s teen.

First tournament I can vividly remember is Euro 96 (watched WC 90 and 94 but don't really remember any of the games) and the first game I can still recall details about was the 95 FA Cup final <doh>, I think my brother still has that green and white quarters shirt somewhere. And I think that game just about sums up Liverpool's 90s, always close but never quite there
