    For a player who hasn't even been tested in the premier league!

    So happy we didn't continue pursuing him , he's got an attitude I just can't stand.

    £5m MAYBE, £15m is a sick joke. Football these days is a complete joke transfer wise. I was just having a slightly drunken talk with a mate about it on the walk back home from a poker night, it's ridiculous the sums of money people are buying sub standard players for this summer. To be fair I think we were the ones who helped start it with the Carroll transfer, which makes me happier that we got got the players we did for the prices we did, Cabaye + Ben Arfa for £11m? surely one of them is worth two of Taarabt.

    Think its more that Liverpool started it with the Carroll transfer. We didn't force them to massively overpay. They seem to have developed a habit for it too (Downing, Henderson)

    Was just a warm up for Cabaye the other night but every time he got the ball he looked assured and confident and played some great passes. A real class player, looking forward to great things from him this season.

    I don't think we had any intention of selling Carroll, then they throw £35m at us! It's what i think QPR have done here, don't want to sell so put a hefty sum in his head.

    Exactly the kind of player we need , he's got creativity in abundance and is a fantastic passer of the ball from what I've heard. Looking forward to seeing him play for us in the Premier League. Also curious to see how Marveaux will do for us.

    Is £15m really so daft?

    £20m for Downing seems daft to me.

    As for QPR doing well out of the deal... you do realise how rich they are, right?

    Are you honestly comparing Taarabt to Downing? If Taarabt is worth 15m then Downing is worth 30m , even though there are a lot of players who I rate higher than Downing.

    And as for QPR being rich , they're fans are upset at the lack of money the owners have invested into the club for transfers , so perhaps the owners are as greedy as our owner and want to sell in order to buy.

    I wasn't comparing the players, just the market values.

    Taarabt was attracting some pretty heavy interest from the likes of Real Madrid so it's not really a surprise he went for an amount like that.
    Andy Carroll had half a season in the PL before he went for the Taarabt and Downing fees combined!

    The QPR board simply can't hope to make money out of such a small club - their ground is tiny and they have no mass appeal. I'm baffled as to why any of them are involved frankly. The know precious little about football and will struggle this season without more investment... just like us.
