Has anyone else watched the highlights on Tiger Player? Apparently our "9 million pound player from Honduras" scored the equaliser, oh dear oh dear, where do they get the commentators from?
Nothing will top Jonathan Pearce going on about '36 year old Paul Mcshanes creaking limbs' but that's a good double fail
As I said in my earlier post, if we're going to change the Manager now is the time to do it, not wait until we're either mid table and have to play catch up or in a relegation fight.
We need a clued up owner football wise to do it, which we haven't got. At the moment we will sneak the play-offs at best.
It helps though if you leave your attacking players on the field. Bruce yanked off Henandez and should of replaced him with Aluko up front with Akpom not brought on a midfielder. That allowed Blackburns back line to make sorties to the half way and assist with their attack which resulted in their goal. If you keep the ball in the oppositions half all the time they can't score. Not really rocket science is it. I also think it should of been Clucas pulled of and not Robertson.
Absolutely this. The fact that Blackburn forced three corners in the last few minutes should underline to Bruce that his tactical substitutions to preserve a one goal lead aren't working. Unfortunately it will have had little impact on him and he'll continue to do the same stupid things. n In reality, when holding a one goal lead, we should be the team knocking in a goal in the last few minutes as the opposition stretch themselves in an attempt to salvage something from the game, especially when we are the home side ffs. I've had enough, Bruce out!
I certainly agree with this taking off of a forward to protect a lead generally just bring pressure to the defence. This happened at Newcastle last season, we were 2-0 up, took off an attacker who could have held the ball up, and we invited pressure on the defence, and conceded 2 late goals.
Newcastle was the stand out example but it's happened far too many times in other games, and Bruce just doesn't learn from it. I like the bloke but he just seems to have totally lost the plot. Maloney is probably the most likely of our squad to play incisive attacking through balls and corners that actually mean something, yet Bruce starts with him on the bench. 442 clearly isn't working with Elmo and Dave in the side yet he persists. Why? Probably because he doesn't want to upset Elmo by dropping him yet feels that he can't not select Dave due to spunking £3.5M on him when we're still in dire need of a capable goal keeper. Our failure to get promoted will cost significantly more than £3.5M.
I think many of us have long had enough of Bruce's baffling team selections/substitutions/tactics/formation but unfortunately we are stuck with him. Allams will not sack him. They had an opportunity to do so last Dec & get Pulis in (which would have kept us in The Prem) but didn't. They could have sacked him in the summer but didn't. Bruce could have resigned in the summer but didn't, so barring a massive loss of form & City plummeting into the bottom 3 we are stuck with Bruce/Phelan & their brand of "lets go 1-0 up & then shut up shop & hope the other team don't score" football. Very depressing situation that has many of us pulling our hair out every week trying to understand why a squad full of such talented players are not playing attacking football & at least trying to put the opposition on the backfoot & score 2 or 3 goals. Look at the style of football Norwich,Bournemouth & Watford played last season & the number of goals they scored to get promotion (nearing 100). Come May we'll be lucky to have hit 50 goals.
Sums it up very well especially the part about putting teams on the backfoot and banging in two or 3, this isn't even plastic fan with overhigh expectation talk it's an actual reality, our squad is a step up from most teams in the Championship and it's what we should be doing!
A poor game the Tigers could have lost. Another point on the total = 15pts from 9 games. nb. in 2012/13 after 9 games Hull City had 13pts. W4 D1 L4. Looking good as the team has yet to get out of 1st gear nevermind find Top Gear. A poor Nottingham Forest is next.
