I have read a lot recently about how this current Newcastle Utd team lacks 'character'. Well here is a little tribute to 3 players who could never be accused of lacking character in the black and white shirt.
Those 3 playing together were great fun. Barton was an absolute lunatic but I used to really like him out on the pitch. Nolan, absolute leader. Its a big shame Carroll isn't still with us I think but if you had your time again you would still take the money as he has played about 10 games since!
Thoroughly enjoyed watching that. Wish we had a few like them at present. I'd still have Carroll back if the money was right. And by right I mean 7-8m Barton was a lunatic mind. My favourite bit was Gamst Pedersen who for some reason thought it was a good idea to clip him n the stomach as he went by. Paid for that. It was like when we sent Big Dunc on against Roma.
Did Barton get much in the way of punishment from the FA for that? I can't recall...it was basically common assault! Pedersen was a sneaky little rat tho!
I can't remember but I would imagine he got banned, he got away with very little in his career for some reason...
Like Mitro, he needs to curtail his anger, but channeled performances like Saturday is absolutely spot on. First time we've had that useful presence up front since Ba and Carroll.
Agree Mitro has character in spades! Could it be a coincidence that our best games (Man U and Chelsea) he has been a handful throughout. He is mad (passionate) about football not just the club (which is an added bonus) and it gets the rest of the team that extra few percent to go out and put your body on the line for the cause.
Eastern Europeans - Good stock. They tend to be mentally tough and have a direct aggressive nature. Kolorov, Vidic, Matic, Ivanovic, Mitrovic etc. All hard as nails, physically and mentally capable. Just helps deal with the more aggressive nature of the game here. Added bonus is they all sound Drago I like Kolorov.
You've put that up on two threads. Can you translate please as the SSN website says nowt about anyone.
Cheers man, it's a shame we didn't hold onto these 3 players the season we finished 5th. It could have been the difference in bringing champions league football back to SJP.
Actually they just reported that he had a spinal column and speculated that this could cause a rift with many of his team mates
