Everyone must know what a Supermoon is by now. In case you don't, it's when the phase of the Moon is Full [ie when Werewolves come out] and the Moon is at or near Perigee [ie the closest part of its orbit variation to the Earth]. But tonight [or more strictly, the wee hours of tomorrow] a lunar eclipse occurs, which puts the Moon into the shadow of the Earth, cast by the Sun. This turns the Moon red/rusty brown rather than making it disappear because the Earth's atmosphere bends the sunlight around into the shadow. So the Moon then sits in a kind of lunar twilight until it emerges. Hopefully, this confuses the hell out of those Werewolves. And you won't see another until 2033, so take a peek out the window and then return to bed. Clear southern skies tonight too. Cameras, telescopes, binoculars.
The SuperMoon is already up. I don't know whether you have the big skies that I have here, so apologies if you can see nothing, so far, but it does look slightly bigger. The skies are very clear and it looks like an excellent night for viewing. It'll turn red later.
Yep just had a look here in Swindon, clear skies and it is really bright.........might set the alarm for 1am to have a lookie.
Ah I wish FLT ........the wife will be long asleep and won't wake up even if a earthquake hit. Just the other week a drink driver crashed outside our house wrecking 3 cars and a wall...................the wife? Slept through the lot, the police were here for over an hour with blue lights flashing. Not even a murmur from her.
I will actually get up and see this as TSS says it won't happen again until 2033, it would be a shame to miss it..... As for nookie? Might see the red moon again first
