I'll regret getting involved I'm sure and I know it's this site's tradition to post the match report and then Swords comes on and says there are too many words but "mouthy cnt". Is that acceptable? Is that the level you're stooping to?
Swords & BBH reign it in please ppl, got better things to be doing that reading reports linking me here - thanks brb
I would suggest Northern R is Clive If so best all make up Clive has a good following who enjoy it but I hope he can take it Alan Bennett I call him 25 words when 5 will do He is a famous R but I prefer Col'd write ups anyday Col is underground
He is Clive. Just check the other 3 posts he's made. I always respected Clive but I admit I'm finding it difficult now after this last stunt getting the Supermods involved.
Neds lost it.......been bullied by every one this season. Thought Hall has done nothing wrong so far!
Nothernr is Clive, and if I was him I too would strongly object to being called a mouthy c*nt (Swords) and a boring f#ker (BBH) This is directed at a new member....who did not load the original article (999s did), and has only posted once on this thread. That is totally unacceptable and I think an apology is required Although I would have perfered Nothernr to complain to us directly (QPR mods) rather than go straight to the supers....I do understand it.....and as a new member, I would accept he did not know. I think an apology is in order in the first instance from you both. In the second instance, read the article, and you will actually be surprised. Clive is an excellent and dryly funny writer. Swallow your ill-concieved conceptions and actually read something from someone who was there. and please stop being so pig-ignorant. So....an apology is expected....
He's not a new member, he joined in 2013, he probably reads his reviews on here every week. And it is your opinion that he is 'an excellent...writer', it's not a fact. Are Swords' and (God help me) BBH's robustly expressed opinions of less value than Clive's? Is the offence using anglo-saxon (probably, I'm not a language historian) vocabulary? What is the problem with the letter U? Are you going to apologise for calling people 'pig ignorant'? Is that more offensive than puerile references to *****philia in relation to Tom Carroll? Clive got it right, there is an incredibly tedious tradition that 9's posts a link to his report and Swords makes an inane and repetitive comment about the word count. I imagine he'll continue doing it as long as people react to it. Personally I find Clive's articles and Sword's response to them easy to ignore, but the etiquette of this site has only been broken by Clive - fully entitled to complain about the insult (5.39 pm) but instantly reporting to brb (who posted at 6.20 pm) before Swords had responded? Seriously? The fact is that the vast majority of people on here who comment on his work do so in glowing and grateful terms, perhaps he should just bask in this praise and ignore Swords et al. Huge apologies for any and all offence caused by my opinion, past, present and future.
So Stan you are right on a couple of things...although his avatar comes up as "new member" he did join in March 2013 (so one can only assume, that "new member" refers to levels of posting) Yes it is my opinion that he is an excellent writer...but as he earns a living from it, I would guess that he cannot be bad. I will apologise for calling people pig-ignorant which I meant they were acting stupid due to ignorance, so I will stick at the word ignorant rather than pig-ignorant. Yes 999s post these reports up, because they are about matches our club play, by someone who was there....Col used to do it too....I loved them, although I often disagreed with them...I (and many others) loved them.. Many people like Clives reports...I do others/others don't ...that too is fair enough. It is perfectly acceptable to say..."i find them boring, I find them long"....It is Ok to comment fairly on the work,....it is not acceptable to call Clivehimself a "mouthy c@@@" So Stan...I think an apology for being abusive to a member is still in order......It is not for commenting on his work
I apologise for using those offensive remarks. In my defence, it wasn't long after a derby-day thrashing and when I saw Clive's monologue being put up I just couldn't hack it. I believe Nines was actually on the wind up and has been for some time regarding this issue. Still, the language used was totally unacceptable and I apologise unreservedly to Mr Whittingham for that. To be honest though, I don't know what he's complaining for. I've increased interest in his blog as a result of these threads being dragged out owing to debates over Clive's style which are triggered by me every time. If it weren't for that, there'd be a couple of posts and maybe a tenth of the views because the thread would be so tiny. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Clive chipped in here in order to boost his figures. You see it happen all the time with authors, journalists and the like. There's no such thing as bad publicity. Our Clive may well have played you all like a fiddle and if he has then more fool y'all!
You can't even apologize without spinning an angle. I suspect Clive would rather not get insulted than have the additional clicks you describe. I notice you give yourself credit for those as well. It's all about you eh?
