He's not at Man United, so he'll probably entertain any deal he can get.

so its gone from anyone of Mannone/Guzan/Eilhoff to Gulacsi/Oxley/Devlin as our no.1 keeper

surely we all saw what a good experienced keeper does for the team. whenever we had mannone and at times guzan playing we looked more confident. i cant see us having that same confidence if we've got Gulasci or Devlin between the sticks.

i know we dont have much money but suuuuuurely a no.1 goalkeeper is a top priority thats worth spending a little on..

Fully agree, it's about time we purchased a number 1 keeper who wasnt inexperienced

Why is everyone so hung up on age? Mannone was young and inexperienced when he came here, but proved to be a great keeper who we would all happily have back.

The Liverpool lad is highly rated at Anfield and would surely be No1 as part of deal.
Basso has bags of experience and would be an ideal No2, but good enough to push for No1 spot
Devlin would be cheap wages wise and could be a long term plan in the offing
Oxley needs to go on loan, from there we can decide if he or Devlin could be No2 next season

Good to see we are keeping options open

Plus, we're only having a look at him. It doesn't mean we'll sign him!!!!

I'm sure with the experience Joe Corrigan has, he'll spot anything good/ bad/ indifferent about any of the keepers we're looking at

mannone wasnt that inexperienced. he's played for arsenal in their reserves and a few first team games for 6 years. being trained with Jens Lehmann and a few other keepers. he also played 7 games for italy u21 in the uefa euro u21 qualification.

thats not bad experience really :)

Péter Gulácsi has actually played more competitive games then Mannone
18 senior appearances for Mannone with 7 Italy U21 games
35 senior appearances for Gulácsi with appearances for the Hungary U17, 19, 20 and 21 totalling 41 matches for the young international sides

    Note: If wiki is right.

It seems to me that we're taking the keeper situation a little lightly yet if you ask EVERY top manager who the single most important player on the field is they will say the keeper.

But is NP taking it lightly? What do we know beyond swirling rumours?

Well my point is I wouldve expected the keeper to be the first player signed this summer, not the last. If we're wating for 'the right one' then so be it but the uncertainty certainly doesnt help. Have we put all our eggs in the Gulasci basket?

I'm sure Grimsby would love it if the Gulacsi signing fell through.

Don't forget Basso. Also, don't forget that Mannone is pretty inexperienced, Guzan is crap and Eilhoff was a German second division 'keeper who'd never played in England.

Gulasci is on Mannone's level. Joe Corrigan is a better prospect than Guzan and Eilhoff is no loss.

BEST POST ON THIS THREAD BY FAR. That has always been the case. The fans who are on the panic button WHY ?
NP knows what he is doing. As for the experience City have Joe Corrigan who has been there and done it at at the very
top level. For those who dont know him, well if his playing days were now he would be the best goalie around by far.
He played at a time when England had Gordon Banks and Peter Shilton to name but 2. I expect Joe to be giving NP all the info he needs re.the goalies. Age does not matter. Time this country got out of it age-ist stupidity.

Like the poster said........IF YA GOOD ENOUGH, THEN YOUR OLD ENOUGH.

Did anyone say there was a problem regarding signing a young keeper? I cant be bothered to scan back through but if so I must have missed it.

Inexperienced and young are NOT the same thing. You can have a young player who is experienced and vice versa an old player who isnt. Gianluigi Buffon had loads of top flight appearances when he was still young yet someone like Tony Warner sat on a bench for 10 years.

Yes a few are moaning about how young our keepers maybe.

Mannone and Guzan made errors @ City and they are supposed to be experienced.
