It is nice to get a win and to score more than one goal. Sturridge getting on the score sheet is a massive positive. But let's not get carried away.

Villa is poor and should be beaten at home. It was far too close for comfort and as usual our defence was wobbly (as we all know by now). Sterner tests are ahead and let us keep our feet firmly on the ground.

Averaging a goal every 75 minutes and still not fully fit

By not getting carried away you mean those who were demanding Rodgers was sacked after beating Carlisle with a weakened team and Sturridge only playing 60 minutes of the season?

Sturridge coming back (if he stays fit) could be the best thing to happen to us this year. (other than Klopp replacing Brodge)

Yes. We should be able to beat a weakened Carlisle playing at home. We should bear a weak AV by more than one goal.

As I said before the game, even if we beat Villa 5-0 Rodgers still needs to go.

Beating Villa 3-2 at home is not impressive.

The Everton game will be male or break. Getting beat by them especially is best badly could be the final nail in the coffin, especially with a break for internationals after...

Sacking a manager with no replacement isn't particularly impressive either

"There's a hysteria around the club. We've lost fewer games than Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal in all competitions - two."

Still in every cup. More points than last season (by week and by fixture). 2 points off 3rd place. #reality

Other teams playing worse than us doesn't mean we're playing well or have reached a turning point. I, personally, have no confidence in Rodgers and I'm not alone. The best we've played have been when Sturridge has returned and I'd rather not have a manager at the helm who has no clue what to do when our injury prone striker isn't available - especially if he can't even put up a decent defensive line.

I agree that there's too much hysteria, but the second a better manager comes available, we should make it happen.

Can we make a list before then of all the caveats the #rodgersout brigade will use so we're clear on what we're allowed to consider an acceptable result?

I think so far we have:

    1. World class goals don't count
    2. Any goals benefitting from a referee decision in our favour doesn't count (even if it was a correct decision like Bournemouth's)
    3. Everton must be credited with a goal scored for every decent chance they make
    4. No great chances we create but miss can be credited

So any more rules? And what number of goals do we need to win by for it to not be "what we should be winning by"?

Which are generally getting better, as you would expect with new players, young players, players returning from injury, and a fixture list that's basically as difficult as possible to start a season with

Just talking about the next fixture but not specifially aimed at you. Before Villa everyone has us losing, maybe getting a 0-0 draw. Now it's yeah we won but we should have won by more.

So I just want to know in time for Everton away how many goals we should be winning by for Rodgers to be allowed any credit.

That's why we want a replacement.

Perfect time to replace Rodgers whilst a new manager can still make a difference. <ok>

League? We're out of contention already. Think otherwise and you're delusional.
Euro? 1 point from what should have been 3.
FA cup? Hard to get eliminated if you haven't played.
CoCup. Only in due to luck. Almost knocked out by Carlisle.

Beating Rodger's terrible performance last year isn't an achievement either.

Reality. Stoke we were lucky. Bournemouth we were lucky and should have lost but for bad refereeing. Arsenal we only got a point because of bad refereeing.

We've played, what, 8 games so far, mostly against smaller clubs, and have played 45 minutes of good football.

We are only midtable because we've been lucky. Luck alone has kept us out of the relegation zone. We should 6 Or 7 points lower on form.

Thsts just not good enough for Liverpool. Luck has a way of evening out. We can't count on it to continue.

Better? What games are you watching?

Yes We won the last two but the opposition was weaker and our performances were not good enough.

Is one goal in 120 minutes against a weakened Carlisle improvement?

Have you ever watched football before? All teams struggle against 11 men behind the ball.

I still think with the right manager we can get Champions League. Enough other challengers are bad.

The longer we have Rodgers the harder that becomes. If we don't get back in CL now we won't for over a decade. Once it gets down to three spots for England it will become near impossible unless we're already in it and able to attract talent.

No they don't. Especially not against teams three leagues beneath them. It was Carlisle's best hope but 95 out of 100 teams from the PL era would have beaten Carlisle in 90 minutes.
