It would appear the turnstile staff turned up to work today to be told tomorrow is their last day. If they have they'll have been sacked with no notice. We'll see if they get any redundancy, some of whom have worked for City/SMC since the dark days of Boothferry Park. No wonder he doesn't like trade unions.
I love this really not saying owt but suggesting plenty type posts. Have they been sacked? Are they contract staff? Do they know? Do the Allams like the Unions? Who knows? Check in next week, for some more facts.
It would appear that facts may appear. Apparently. Maybe. Perhaps. Or they may not. We don't need them anyway. You can sack anyone with no notice, you just have to pay them the notice.
They are not contract staff. They are employed by the SMC. At least two have continuous employment from Boothferry Park days. The Allams had to abandon a previous 42 day notice period because they hadn't done it properly and the unions stepped in. Assem Allam has been telling the world about how the unions are too powerful and offered to fund a new political party because of it. The only bit that I don't know is factual is what actual happened today, whether they have been given notice and whether they will be paid redundancy without going to a tribunal.
You cannot sack anyone with no notice. If you do its unfair dismissal. You can make them redundant but only after following the law, consult with staff and pay them redundancy and payment in lieu of notice if they are finished without notice. Why let facts get in the way.
When something affects people I had worked with for years I stand by them. I trust you would do the same. If its true I hope they take the Allams to a tribunal and win.
They were part time casual staff, called upon if and when needed. Gates are down by 25% this season and turnstiles have been automated so why the surprise that some casual staff are no longer required?
Did you advise HCC over the last tribunal which was described as amateurish and slip shod in the press?
They still have employment rights and are entitled to proper consultation and, for those that qualify redundancy. If the rumour I heard is true it wasn't some it was all.
Surely they have had a good idea its coming? If they're entitled to a redundancy payment then i hope they get it mind.
It's been happening for weeks first there was 'stinkgate' now 'gate-gate' the new manger (of SMC?) initials' JC' - flexing his muscle, cutting costs ... before .... ?
If you have a regular working pattern, ie every home game and have worked that for the last 15 years you have a reasonable argument that you're an employee and entitled to redundancy even if you have a zero hours contract.
Bloody turnstile staff have had it easy for too long. AP wasted money on them for years the ****. Allam is just doing what we'd all have done and the staff should be grateful they ever got to work for him. Seriously though this is exactly what I can't stand about the Allams. Most people think it's just the name change but that's only a small part of it. They just treat people like absolute ****. The list is constantly growing. Barmby, Pearson, Thompson, the disabled supporters, the Airco kids, the FWG, the regular away fans, the entire workforce of Ruscador and now the turnstile staff. Even the OSC who are seen as Allam lapdogs, they just get strung along and ****ed about with. Allam proudly says that no one resigns from his business, they leave when he tells them to. He's just a horrible man.
