Pennock has done a brilliant job since he arrived. For the first time in my memory we have some serious talent coming through our youth ranks and a number of them are already, or will be soon, knocking on the door for a place in the first team squad. The great thing is he has got them playing quick moving attacking football and knocking in the goals. He had a brilliant success rate in developing young players at Swansea and the results are clearly evident in the way they play. Wouldnt it be nice to see us playing Swansea-style football as opposed to the Bruce/Phelan variety!!!!!
Horse **** result against a dog **** team. Bruce is defo here for at least the rest of the season – so let’s get behind him as to not would just be counter productive. But with the squad we have, let’s not pretend that we’re somehow doing well or ticking along. Performances have been in the main, ****ing rubbish and points accrued are borderline adequate. We’re no longer in a division where we’re lucky or happy to be muddling along.
Why do we never play with attacking wingers? If we play with wingers its always safe, defensive players like Elmo and Clucas. Players like Aluko who can actually beat a man are only ever used as a striker. Other teams, ones who actually score goals, use pacey agile players out wide. Look at Ince at Derby. We only ever used him as a striker when he was here. Bruce is scared to use attacking players and he obviously thinks if you're gonna use them you have to put them up front with at least 8 defensive players behind them.
Same negative ****e, go one up, defend it for the rest of the game, or go one down and chase for the draw. Negative approach = negative results.
Just reading this thread & the posts, mine included, made me wonder, are we turning into Leeds fans? Expectations are high & we should be beating teams like this week in & week out?
I ll give it another 4 games and if still same boring tactics I'm in the Bruce to go need a fresh approach
We have a lot of fans that have only known relative success. I know a few who can talk of going to a their first game in then70's, but any regular attendance didn't begin until the next century, so they lack the hard miles in the dark times.
It's not about an unrealistic expectation of winning, it's the frustration of having a great squad but not getting the best out of it. It's got absolutely **** all to do with who went in the 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's or 10's either.
Lots of **** on here. It's about finding a balanced team and today it just looked like the midfield was too slow and the whole back line was poor at distribution. The ball flew over the midfield time and time again. I think Bruce is working out who is best on form and on paper and realising that you need to bench a couple to fit some legs and pace in besides reputation. We aren't far off a more settled line up and formation. I don't think it's panic time yet but it will be if we don't steady improve. No game is a guaranteed walk over and I think one or two have deluded ideas you can walk through matches by right if you are relegated. Lots of very top teams are finding they are not there yet with balance and selection. Things level out after the year ends
At Fer Ark, the events on the pitch were pretty much secondary to a good day out. These days, everyone's an expert pundit and the matchday experience is more geared for spectators than fans.
How did the boys play? From this thread I sense we're still playing the same old boring ****e and trying to hang onto slim leads. Even after the Cardiff game I still believed we need a new manager to get the team playing to the best of their ability.
I blame the Internet, back in the 90's you had to go to watch City to complain about how **** they were, now, you can read it on the net, other people's opinions & then come to your own conclusions on how **** City are. The more people go against SB it seems the crowd follow on, it's like when kids were egging each other on to do something stupid. Or everyone gathering round 2 kids in the playground shouting, "fight, fight, fight, fight!"
I can't get to the matches so have to rely on reports and comments on here, which I respect highly. I've followed City since the 68-69 season and seen all the ups and downs of this great Club. I'm grateful to Bruce for the success he's brought to the Club, I never thought i'd see us in the FA Cup Final in my lifetime. Someone mentioned above it was our negative approach that got us relegated and Bruce is carrying on with the same tactics this season. If this is true then we do need to change it. Going by the stats of shots at goal we certainly wasn't defending all the time so why did we change tactics after our goal? Only Bruce will know this, if we was away I could understand it but at home....no. It needs freshening up and if that means a change in management then so be it. Someone asked above if we was turning into the whiteshite by expecting to win every game. I don't think we're anything like them. They think because they used to be a big club they should be winning everything, they're deluded and are living in the past. We have the calibre of players who should be pushing for promotion and we would be if we had the right people in place. Yes, we're in fourth place and in my opinion is the right time for change sooner than at the bottom of the League. I'll wait for all the shots to come my way but i'll respect everyones opinions, good or bad.
You keep basing your ideas on forum threads, and Bruce will keep managing based on what he sees. That's how it should be.
