Glad I went to Bristol City game, was'nt too encouraging on arriving at home park-like a ghost town even 15mins before kick off. However a surprisingly entertaining game developed, was hard to follow the team line up due to trialists, several substitutions and no programme.Stand out players- Fletcher, Nelson,Robbie Williams our no 7 and our no 5 (outstanding) also our new professionals looked good-think Luke Young is a good prospect.Ok we have no money, the takeover is an incompetent fiasco,no replacement team kit or sponsor and still in administration.But-the pitch looked great, the players and Reidey were up for it and the support fantastic from a small crowd.P.s our local derbies with Torquay will be no easy game this season, saw them play some very good stuff yesterday against city could have been 4-0 but for David James pulling off some great saves.FORWARD THE GREENS.
I read a similar report in the Herald akagreengull2 but there were those who were pouring a bit of scorn on the game in other posts. I am glad that somebody who was there thinks it was encouraging. One comment was that the Keeper, is it Cole, was a bit of a mare although that wasn't said in the Herald either. Be interested in what you thought of him. More people on the way it seems as trialist at the start and looks like Zubar might just sign for us again so things to be cheerful about do get more as time goes on.
Cole was fouled by a City player before the second goal but nothing was given, so he was not at fault there. People I have spoken to say he was not bad. The real stars were Berry and Daley who formed an interesting partner ship on the right side. Williams and even Fletcher (A stinger for DS) were praised by the fans I met on saturday. The only downer was the lack of support but pre-season historically never brings huge attendence anyway.
Sensible, it was a direct quote from someone who was there. I think my statement said "APPARENTLY the keeper was crap" just an opinion same as anyone else's.
Jake Cole was definitely fouled for the goal,he seemed a bit unsure at times but then he was in a trial and probably nervous, saw him earlier this year playing for Barnet against Torquay and he looked competent.Seems Reid saw the match as useful, being very impressed with luke Daley in particular. From the old guard Fletcher,Nelson and Walton all played effectively. But the standout, was no 5 Ladjie Soukouna who looked similar in appearance and playing style to Reda Johnson at centre back.Looks promising at the back if they all sign up; a combination of Larieu,Durrell-Berry,Soukouna and Zubar if he re-signs and Nelson if not sold would offer good defence.Could be a combination of Daley and Hitchcock (who scored) at the front end would get a few goals in league 2.So on the field could be promising, off the field-nuff said.
