The former Barcelona tactician is out of contract at the end of the season and is widely tipped to leave the Allianz Arena. While Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal are desperate to land him, the FA believe they can tempt him. The Sun understands that they are willing to pay Guardiola a staggering £10million-a-year to replace Roy Hodgson after Euro 2016. http://metro.co.uk/2015/09/25/engla...after-euro-2016-report-5407140/#ixzz3mkKHYuLO
Pep Guardiola walked out of a press conference today after being asked about reports linking him with the England manager's job saying "Oh come on, I'm coach of Bayern Munich, many thanks and auf wiedersehen."
Yep, having one of the worlds best managers would 'just not suit us at all', what a stupid comment. He won't come anyway, he's after a top coaching position in England clubwise after he finishes at Bayern
**** off Andy, stop wumming for once in your life. You couldn't get any better improvement. One of the worst possible managers replaced by one of the best. I would love this.
I reckon he could do a job at Hull, might have a few connections, but not with Man Utd! Actually probably the only foreign coach I wouldn't be disgusted at managing England! Although I'd prefer to do badly & stick with English managers rather than get to QF & SF's!
It's nothing to do with him being a poor manager. More that approximately zero teams in the Premier League play tiki-taka. Plus we're supposedly going to shell out 10m on him You can polish a turd all you like but the England grassroot scheme absolutely stinks and until that gets some serious money spent on it we'll continue to shell out absolute dross. The whole system needs changing as soon as possible and the next 10-15 years need to be written off. He's a fabulous manager and someone I really admire but he just would not suit the current England side whatsoever.
When he could probably pick any club in the world he fancied why on earth would he want to manage England? Even for £10m pa?
That is probably your best ever post. I absolutely agree with grass roots coaching, it's terrible. Look at what Belgium did quite a few years ago after suffering abject failure at international level. They addressed all levels of coaching and have gone on to produce some of the best players in European football. It's something this country needs to embrace, the sooner the better and we can rid ourselves of footballing dinosaurs like Hodgson.
Yes youre right Theres to many egos kicking around in this country To much emphasisr placed on just winning at to young an age
I have just started taking GLP Jr up to the village academy and it's probably better than most, but still far from ideal. They don't practice the fundamentals like ball control and feeling comfortable with the ball at feet. You can look through the age ranges and see it's an epidemic of hoofball and uncultured football. Maybe it's just a genetic in built default? I can remember as a kid running around with a ball wanting to emulate players I admired. With the dearth of top quality players to watch and learn from on the TV would be footballers have never had it so good. Yet still we have this very outdated style of play. I actually decided I am going to start getting involved with the coaching rather than complain on the sidelines!! At least when I next want to complain, I only need to look in the mirror. I'm going to dust off my Puma Kings now
Is he that good? There was quite a bit of unrest in Germany last year when they got absolutely ****ed away at both Porto and Barca in the UCL. They definitely took a step back under him when it came to Europe last year. I actually agree with AKCJ and I dont think he's wumming at all, what would he manage to achieve with a week with the players every 2 and a half months and trying to get them to play in a completely different way that they do every other single day of the lives?
I agree on the points about grassroots football completely. It's quite clear that it needs a complete overhaul and is the biggest problem in English football, moreso than the ridiculous amounts of money flying around. But I would still have him right now. He is still way better than that inept dinosaur Woy. He would improve us, to suggest we would still play as poor football under Pep as we have under Woy is just ridiculous.
This has been said for years, yet nothing has changed! All the FA went on about was getting the set up in Burton done, nothing on what steps were being taken in the meantime! Now we're back in the old, look at Belgium scenario! What's wrong with not trying to copy everyone else & having our own style? Do we really need to play tika taka?
Our own style is great! Sadly it's not a winning style and technically our players don't look as good as other players from top ranked countries. Sometimes you get naturally gifted players which are the exception rather than the rule. On the whole I would say given the population of the UK and it's our national sport - we're actually not very good at it. Belgium don't play tika taka.
