Someone mentioned a new three floor restaurant opening in Paragon Square (sorry, I can't find the OP), it's quite a punt someone is taking, it's this entire building... please log in to view this image I believe the idea is also to have a large seating area outside, something like this... please log in to view this image http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/floo...quare-revive/story-27857170-detail/story.html
It was in HDM this week. They haven't got anyone to take it yet, but there's interest apparently. Hope it comes off, it's looked an eyesore the last couple of years.
Needs a masive re-vamping around that area, it looks tacky. To think that the Cenotaph is there we should at least make the area an attractive spot.
The photo's locked so I can't embed it on here, but there's a great photo on here... Edit - It's just appeared.
Actually OLM the one I remember, and tell me if I'm wrong, age y'know, there was a duck or similar bird alongside of the clock I remember although I do also remember the one in your picture.
Ah something like that's Stanley a pelican or is it a toucan? By the way like the tribute to France and those who lost their lives
Getting back to the CoC thing, it seems that most of the attention is focused on the City centre but I hope I'm wrong and something could be done along the many major roads in our city. I don't mean the actual roads but the shops, flats whatever that are on those roads, I'm particularly thinking of Spring Bank from town down to the Princes Ave area. I had cause to walk that stretch of road a week ago and it appalled me, the rubbish stacked up outside of the boarded up shops and a general air of neglect permutated the area. I have griped often enough about Anlaby Road and a mostly failed regeneration but it seems as though the City centre is getting some £25 million for refurbishment then maybe some of that could be spent on a bit of sprucing up elsewhere.
It's a toucan, but they used a pelican as well, so it may have been that. Re: Paris - the supermarket I was in today stopped for 1 minute's silence at 11 a.m.
I'm slightly worried about all the CoC work. You can see the **** state of the street repairs down Silver Street, Parliament Street, etc where the utility companies have dug up the paving/ cobbles and just replaced it with tarmac. I can envisage hundreds of thousands being spent improving the city centre only for some utility company to come in and dig it all up. They should be forced to leave it as they found it.
As Dutch says, they already are and the places you mentioned are having all the setts replaced by the utility companies who messed them up. Hopefully, the fact that they're incurring much bigger costs by having to dig it all up and redo it properly, will make them do it correctly in the first place in the future.
