Have a read of this. http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2015/09/24/hajj-pilgrimage-at-least-_n_8187836.html?ncid=webmail1 What a set of arseholes.
Lots of lucky 7s Quite a few garden gates Few hundred doctors orders Only 1 pair of davids den (shame he wasnt there) Legs 11 everywhere
I've mentioned this before Billy. Their regard for human life is horrendous. They just don't care. If anything happens its god's will so why bother with safety and security for the worlds pilgrims. Its only because everyone has phones these days that these things are now reported. These high numbers of deaths have been regularly going on for years and years. Years ago there used to be a dual carriageway of sorts down the escarpment from near Abha in the south west, down to the coast. A drop of around 10,500 feet or so. It was washed away one year in a massive storm not long before I got there and I was told by workmates that thousands were killed. No one outside the country ever knew about it and it wasn't even reported in their own news.
@Billy Cattermole looks like nothing's changed since I was there mate. It's either the foreigners fault, or "fate and destiny" i.e., gods will, for what happens within their borders, including mass manslaughter. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-700-country-s-cleric-says-human-control.html To be fair to their government, their religious leaders are still living in the early Middle Ages and this is the problem their western educated Saudi Royal family are havng to deal with. Not that I'm inclined to be fair to the Saudi ruling classes.
What do you think Saudi's relationship with the west is like considering that most of the west is pro Israeli? Not having a go, just asking.
Complicated. They've needed us as much as we've needed them. We buy their oil and they spend that money back with us on arms. The Saudi's also like having a strong Israel nearby. They have something in common, they both hate Iran intensely. The Saudi's let the Israeli's fly through their airspace when they attacked Iran years ago. Don't know why I'd be worried about you having a go Billy. Not keen on the Saudi's myself! Many of their people don't understand or appreciate their own history. They had no idea that in just 20-30 years they'd travelled 600+ years in time, from the middle ages to the 20th century. They didn't get it that anyone working for them was a relationship of equals, we work-you pay. They treated many like slaves and I'm sure that still goes on to some extent.
Very good post that & very insightful. So from what you're saying the Arab brotherhood of nations aren't sticking together then? Maybe Terry was right then. One day Israel may well wreak havoc across the Middle East.
Dont think they will need to. All the mussies are killing each other. They just need to step it up a bit and get it over and done with.
There's no such thing as an Arab brotherhood mate. It's a fallacy. There are dozens of Arab tribes as different from one to the next, with many religious faiths adding to the mix. Sunni and Shia are the 2 main and best known sects, but there are others like Sufi and Baha'i. Just like Europe. Dozens of different races and nations overlaid with many Christian sects. There isn't a typical Arab and there isn't a typical European.
I knew the sunni, shia & kurds don't particularly like each other but I didn't realize how diverse it is.
