The decline of Charlton since 2005 and Curbs departure just seems never ending. Apart from one season under Powell when we won the worst league ever with 101 points, we have basically seen 9 seasons of utter cack. I hate losing to Palace and their Concorde- Nosed manager. What made last night worse was taking 2,980 fans, and then short changing them by sending out a team of kids and misfits. Has anyone else noticed that Katrien Meire only talks about "Premier League ambitions" when she is rattling the collection buckets for season ticket money? In my opinion Luzon has underdone all the good work building up goodwill with fans suspicious about his appointment. Last night showed what happens when you appoint a Yes Man with no understanding or empathy for Charlton and its history. If he really wanted to protect our "best" players from injury, why did he bring them on as subs? He is a clown. All in all, a very depressing time to be a Charlton fan right now. Duchatelet, Meire and Luzon Out.
What depresses me more than the result is how far Palace are ahead of us as a Club. Let us not forger that this was largely a Palace reserve side. Dwight Gayle, who scored a hat trick, struggles to get into their starting eleven. The last few games we have been utter cack. We have conceded nine goals and scored two in the last three games. Luzon made a huge mistake playing a weakened team and the goodwill has quickly evaporated. I can see no light at the end of the tunnel with Cardiff and Fulham on the way. Our squad is not good enough and it looks like a relegation battle. Whether Luzon will still be here I don't know.
Yet again it was a defender who got our only goal. Igor's second coming looks less and less likely, Big Mak ain't gonna score many, KAG has his 18th birthday about now, Watt can't do it on his own, Kennedy is there as a last resort, not because he's forced his way in, Reza plays 10 minutes and is suddenly injured, JBG doesn't even take the free-kicks any more! Cousins gets into scoring positions, but he's not a goal-scorer.
You should ALWAYS put up a show against your fiercest local rivals. Gary Rowett did exactly that by fielding his strongest team v Villa in the Cup this week. But then again, Rowett played for the Blues and was then appointed as their manager on merit.
Agree. The club knew how important it was, the lines outside the valley at 5am when they went on general sale tells them that. I honestly believe Luzon felt putting the best out would still result in defeat. He didn't have faith.
On the wider point regarding the future of the Club, it feels to me that Charlton under Duchatelet's ownership is the footballing equivalent of Jeremy Corbyn's leadership of the Labour Party. Most sane human beings have looked at it, and thought 'nope, this has been tried before and it will end in disaster'. A few deluded souls still cling on the notion that the whole enterprise will end in glorious success - this must make Reams the equivalent of Diane Abbott.
You've not been paying attention. Reams has flip-flopped again. He now wants Duchatelet and Miere out.
hi Scooter Rest assured - we are all seasoned Reams agitators on here. Paul May has done more back flips than Tom Daley
Don't panic to much tomorrow will bring you 3 points, lob high ball into the area and watch our defence panic. Our manager and his assistant are tactically clueless. Result Charlton 3 Fulham 1.
That's very nice of you to say that.................you're not pulling my pisser are you? Oh! by the way, it's Sunday.
In that case, a pity our nine-foot tall Viking CF is not fit to play tomorrow. Maybe later on at the Cottage if we have not dropped out of the League by then.
Have just read the latest lies from Meire about Igor in the Newshopper " IF he gets fit we would LIKE him in our team" etc Hardly a rallying call, is it ?
Is anyone else suffering a motivation problem for Preston tomorrow night ? Thank God we have got the great pitch, the Fans Sofa and the half time cheerleaders, otherwise I wouldn't bother going.
I wouldn't have bothered had I not promised to take a Preston supporting colleague. I'm hoping to get the pre match buzz tomorrow.
