Good signing in my opinion and for £600 K bargain.... Again we are not looking to sign cheap premier proven players. - Madness.

Only saving grace would be if he was wanting silly money for wages.

If we were signing cheap proven Premiership players, people would still complain. Grayson just can't win with some people.

Greening is a fair signing, but who would he play ahead of in the squad we've currently got? Can't think of anyone to be honest

You haven't got anyone to play in the middle who's in the same class as Greening.

He'll be on decent money though, I'd expect about £25k.

Your right there SixFootFive, moan moan moan... I can't imagine too many people complaining if we had signed him though as unlike M.Brown he is only 32... However I still think M.Brown will be a good signing... If injuries permit

I would play Greening over Howson and Nunez... If nothing else it would have made our Midfield really competitive but hey i'm still positive we can do well this season and we still got time to get another couple in...

Original, as far as I am aware, Greening plays out wide. That said, if you think he plays in the middle, we have Howson & Nunez as attacking midfield. We also have Clayton & Brown in DM. He maybe better than Clayton or Brown. But he isn't a DM. Nunez already has much more potential & He certainly isn't as good as Howson,. So I ask again, who would he replace?

I do like Howson but he needs to be playing less than 40 games a season and Nunez i can't comment on as never seen him play but fingers crossed he is as good as some of the reports recently...

But personally I believe Greening is beter than both options we currently have.

Also Greening can play accross Midfield and usually plays a bit more central nowadays as not getting any younger....

Barry Ferguson on his way to Blackpool too. He would have been great for us.

Instead we're signing a 34 year old who hasn't played for half a season, and has never been above upper Championship/lower Premier League level.

He can play wide or in the middle and in my humble opinion is in a different class to Howson, who has never played above Championship level and how you can compare a proven Premier League player with a boke who's played a couple of games for you and wasn't even considered good enough for your squad last season, is beyond me.

yea i wouldnt compare with him with nunez although the guy shows an extensive amount of potential but i'd take howson over him any day of the week, i think howson is definately prem quality and realistically if forest dont get to the prem in the next couple of seasons, hes never gonna play there ever again

Original, it wasn't that Nunez was considered good enough. He was sent out on loan to get regular footy & gain some experience of English football & conditions. His goal, albeit against Motherwell suggests that he will be a class act & this is the season we see what he can do. He already looks as though he will be a handful.

Spanish, we can argue the semantics of who we need, but I agree with the thrust of your arguement that we don't need Greening. Let's hope we do get signings in soon though.

if we had picked up greening for free, then it would have seemed good business for a 34 yr old who hardly played last season, however at 600k i'm not fussed and would prefer to give the likes of nunez & clayton a go.

Whereas Ferguson has never been above upper SPL/lower Premier League level.

Greening is currently a poor mans Robbie Savage, Michael Brown without the touch of class. Essentially we picked up a better "34 year old who hasn't played for half a season" for £600k less.

Just for the record, Greening is 32.

£600k for a 32 year old? That's a crap transfer. A 'proven Prem player'...he's hardly set the world alight at Fulham the last 2 years, and spent most of his career going up and down the leagues with West Brom.

Michael Brown is a better signing IMO
