That is one of our worse NLD defeats in decades imo...it's one thing losing to a better team, cos we're ****, cos of bad luck, cos of poor refereeing but to lose cos OUR manager can't be ****ed is a disgrace. Fazio is ****...everyone including his mother knows he is ****...yet he gets to start in the most important game of the season so far. Townsend has been poor for months yet he gets to start... Rose is in poor form yet he... Kane is knackered and out of form yet he started when Son (in form) is left on the bench Ali is in great form yet was left on the bench... Our keeper is in great form, is hardly tired yet he is on the bench while our 2nd choice keeper gave away a goal (not for the first time) We will not win the EL cos of the CL clubs dropping down...we aint won the fa cup in 24 yrs and will never win the league in my lifetime (and never have) So we threw away our 1 chance for a trophy...for what? To lose to city on saturday? I am so angry (in football terms)about this...they were there to be battered...and we handed it to them
The only thing Poch got wrong was not playing Lloris, although I was surprised Lamela didn't start ahead of Townsend as I think he would have put more pressure on the Woolwich defence
Davies has been good...I think we should play our strongest team...that means playing the in form players so Davie should have started instead of Rose
I don't understand why we chucked Fazio in cold for this one. If he was going to start this game, then why wasn't he used in the Qarabag tie to get him used to playing alongside Wimmer? Probably would've ballsed that up too though, judging by this performance. He's had nothing since the few minutes he had in the pre-season and we nearly sold him. Shouldn't be much of a surprise when he's not up to speed and he plays ****, really. Shame we don't have anyone else as cover for him, unless one of our kids steps up. The most likely candidate can't even get a start for the U21s, for some reason. I think you mean Newcastle. A **** season got even worse, somehow. They should've picked a strong team, too. Can't buy a win at the moment. Edit: "Liverpool 1-1 Carlisle Moans, groans. Anfield is not a happy camp as Carlisle string together 20+ passes easily. Trust me, you don't get that often in League Two." - BBC Second thoughts, maybe you're right!
Wow. Scum - the lot of them. Hope they get arrested and fined. Tearing up a stadium post-game is so 90s
@SpursStatMan: Fazio failed to win a single tackle against Arsenal and completed just 68% of the passes he attempted. ****ing shocking. Let one of the kids have a chance.
MP claims we conceded two unlucky goals but pleased with performance. ..eventually admitted the goals were from mistakes...conveniently forgot to mention they were from the players he brought in
We also got a lucky goal, if he's going down that route. Really annoying game all round, to be honest. Poor selection and a big opportunity.
But we were all (or most of us were) predicting this would happen...so why didn't the manager? It was so obviously going to be the case...he has been, was and will continue to be a ****ing liability yet we played him in an important match...why? I have stuck up for MP as he should be supported when he makes mistakes but today was not a mistake...it was disgraceful not to take the NLD and a very winnable cup match seriously...we could be playing sheff wed next...and have a chance of actually winning a trophy...only our 3rd in 25 yrs!
The most surprising thing is that Pochettino would show such little instinct for self-preservation. Nobody is going to criticize him for playing his strongest team in his Derby. Instead he chucks in the big galoot who keeps screwing up cold, fields a second choice team, and kills the atmosphere of his Derby game. Fans will conclude that he doesn't care about Spurs, doesn't care about them, etc. etc. I also thought Rose was good, and for that matter continue to prefer him to Davies very slightly. He does make big mistakes, but he has a dynamism and threat Davies doesn't have. Against the best teams, like Chelsea last year, he can be the difference. I think we just have to see if it's going to be one of his good years or not, or one of the years he makes too many mistakes, and base the decision on that. On the other hand, I've changed my mind and now prefer Walker to Trippier. Trippier showed too little this week and last week. The player we really needed today was either Mason or Lamela. They are the two players who spend the game trying to get us going forward as fast as possible. Eriksen did a good job at that in the second half, but he's better used on the end of the long passes than making them.
What gets me is, once again, a lot of Twitter posters are making Carroll a scapegoat. It's clear to anyone with eyes that Fazio was the worst player on the pitch - and I don't mean tonight, I mean at any point since the turf has been laid down (and, yes, I am including referees, groundsmen and medics as players for this) - yet there's a section of Spurs support who are determined to say he's the worst player on the pitch. Is it some sort of backlash to some sites hyping him for a couple of years, dubbing him "English Xavi" and so forth, or is it something else? There was a similar scapegoating of Bentaleb at the start of the season (prior to his injury) so it seems to be that any central midfielder not named Eric Dier is the footballing antichrist this season.
