U said it all. My point exactly. If Rooney had been scoring before deadline day, LVG would probably have not bought another striker and kept Hernandez or Memphis as backup striker.
Pointless guesswork in other words. Fact is, even if Rooney had scored a hat trick against Swansea we'd have still bought Martial. Because we needed another striker and Rooney can't be relied upon to not get injured in a season, as has already been proven.
You're just putting your finger in the air and guessing based on nothing. Why on earth would he have kept Hernandez? If you think he bought Martial on the basis of Rooney's performance against Swansea you're completely mad.
Yeh you're still missing the point. Nobody is arguing against this. But it doesn't matter what you or I think. Lostboi is simply saying LVG would have used that as the reason for not buying another striker. Buying a striker on the final day is evidence of more than just guesswork tbh. No more than anyone suggesting it was all planned.
You've got to laugh. Work the ball into the 6 yard box... only to end up shooting from outside the 18 yard box
There's a point? Anyway, while van Gaal is patently mad he's not mad enough to go into a season with Rooney and Wilson as his only strikers so he was always buying someone.
3-0 FT pretty decent game. Pereira gets a full 90min which seems to be more than most Brazilians in the prem these days. And that's without his goal
Enjoyable game. Struggled to see the first half as the streams were terrible but got a good one for the second, though in foreign. Entertaining game and once again there was much more invention in our play. Lovely goal to cap a great performance from Pierera was the icing on the cake. Martial coming on and scoring is starting to become wonderfully predictable. Not many players have started their United career quite like this.
