People are dubbing him 'the next Didier Drogba', so we can be sure he will turn out to be the next Emile Heskey...

We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Souleymane Coulibaly to join the Club.

The 16-year-old striker hit nine goals in four games for the Ivory Coast during the recent Under-17 World Cup - which included a hat-trick against Brazil and four against Denmark - to secure the golden boot and equal the tournament record set by former Liverpool striker Florent Sinama Pongolle, who achieved the milestone with three more games ten years ago.

    ---

    The new Sinama Pongolle?

    That worried me too, KH.

To be honest I was expecting the OP to be telling us that we need to sign him so pleasantly surprised that we've actually got the dirty work done, instead of months of speculating. Now can we please sign NEW OVER 20 YEARS OLD STRAIGHT IN THE FIRST TEAM WITHOUT BREAKING OUR WAGE STRUCTURE STRIKER?

1 goal in 10 for Siena UNDER 19's - never made a senior appearance... one for the future, doubt he'll get anywhere near our first team for a few years.

    He sounds pretty good internationally...

that's some nice editing there. ;)

Although it's a great achievement, I would think that the better indicator of the sort of player he is is his club record. 1 goal in 10 at under 19 club level (albiet, he is only 16) isn't the sort of statistic to make we cream myself just yet.

the youtube clips though, I must say do make him look a bit special.

We'll have to wait and see I guess

    http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896...tenham-agree-deal-to-sign-ivory-coast-starlet

Tottenham have completed the signing of Ivorian youngster Souleymane Coulibaly, the club has confirmed.

The 16-year-old arrives from Italian side Siena and was believed to be being chased by the likes of Real Madrid before agreeing to move to White Hart Lane.

Dubbed ‘the new Didier Drogba’, Coulibaly scored nine goals in four games for Ivory Coast at the recent Under-17 World Cup, including a hat-trick against Brazil and a four-goal haul against Denmark in consecutive matches.

That feat equalled the previous tournament record set by former Liverpool player Florent Sinama-Pongolle, but in three games fewer than the Frenchman managed.

It is understood that the striker will immediately join manager Harry Redknapp’s Tottenham first team.

    goal.com... hmmm.

Maybe Harry has other ideas, but can't see how he could go straight in myself.

    I mean, he's 16 years old?!!

Believe it when I see it.

We could play a dead horse upfront and he'd score more than our current lot. Why not give him a go?

I heard Glenn Hoddle described him as the "black, ginger Pele" - high praise indeed.

I edited before you posted, when I realised my mistake. When you said u19 I presumed that meant country, I forgot the european youth system.

Can someone just remind of of the last time one of these 'prospects' we sign up at a young age from the continent actually made it anywhere near our first team?

I can only think of Assou-Ekotto & Kaboul off the top of my head.

Err Ekotto had three seasons in ligue 1 before he came to us, Kaboul 4... so they don't really count.

We don't sign that many youngsters from abroad.
