First statement is correct. Second statement needs clarification. Heisenberg can't predict whether or not the cat is dead or alive because of the inherent inability of measuring whether or not a lethal particle can be observed to have killed the moggy or not. Both are certain the cat is there as it's presence is basic to the thought experiment. The issue: Is it dead or alive after observation ? ( "Take your pick" as Wilfred Pickles was prone to say..."Take the money, or open the box").
