What would you do if your employer was actively seeking your replacement? Rumours abound FSG have made contact with Carlo Ancelotti.
I'd probably he looking forwards to the multi million £ severance package and laughing at the tools who gave me such a long contract.
Have they not done the whole denial of denial denial? Depends if I honestly thought they'd lived up to their side of the agreement. If so and it just wasn't working, eventually I'd walk. If I thought I was being scapegoated for internal failings or obstacles put in my way against what I'd been promised then I'd wait out for compo because by walking you a risking being seen as a quitter. By being sacked or given a money send off you can convince you're next employers it wasn't all your fault . It's your livelihood after all not voluntary work in Africa .
just be grateful i wasn't tied to a normal working contract and just get my p45 like normal poor sods do!!!
I really don't feel too bad for Rodgers. For football managers the more you're sacked early the more you make. Ideally you pull off some spectacular trophy in your first year to get a nice long contract and make your name. Then do Crap second year and make £10million in one cheque. Move to the next club. Rinse and repeat.
He was supposed to be out for a year. I recon he'll be looking for a new club in the new year though. What an amazing upgrade though! !
Won't happen though! IF Rodgers was to be sacked (which is unlikely IMO until the Summer) then we all know we won't end up with one of these high calibre names been branded about. I think we'll more than likely take another hopeful punt, possibly a Gary Monk, Eddie Howe etc. etc.
Do the best job I could and if that's not good enough then take the inevitable lump sum as compensation. However, if you'd asked what I'd done if my employer had forced a situation upon me that stopped me from being 100% control of affairs associated to said job then I'd have walked away and kept my dignity
TBH, that is something I've said clubs should do for a long time. It is ridiculous that a player (one small cog) can be on more money then the guy running the ship.
True but what other job see's the manager on less than the people they manage? Its a respect issue too. Being the manager and saying it isn't great though
Can't think of any tbh, but surely the managers union should have addressed that issue when players won the right to negotiate their wages individually. I know its only TalkSport but the top earning players at the five mentioned clubs must be laughing all the way to the bank. Here's the link. http://talksport.com/football/premier-leagues-highest-earning-managers-revealed-141029121465?p=4 The issue of player wages is frequently used as stick to beat under-performing stars and preening prima donnas, but is hardly mentioned when in relation to a manager’s performance in the hot seat. Well, that could be about to change after the League Managers Association published a report on the state of coaching in Englishfootball, which revealed the various pay thresholds of bosses up and down the football pyramid. However, perhaps the most interesting figure surrounded top flight managers, who earn on average a mammoth £3m-a-year, but who are the highest individual earners?
