I would be willing to put my neck out that rooney has taken over 20 more penalties than Drogba which would skew Drogbas goal ratio stats to be better than Rooneys even considering that Drogba has had to play under such clowns like AVB, Scolari, Uncle Festa and under ultra defensive Mourinho (since Fergie played nice super attacking footie)
If Zola was around now he wouldn't be as appreciated as he was. He signed for us during a transition which turned us from a very sub standard side playing average stuff into a 'european' side and was bloody good in the process. This is why he was voted our greatest player. I can't even be bothered to get into another argument of how you don't rate him because of his goal scoring record, despite the fact he wasn't a striker. i never called Zola a striker Did Fergie try to sign Zola when he was getting the boot at Parma, or when you guys had him. Clearly he'd of been an easy transfer to make happen, seeing as he played for clubs a lot smaller than us
He was still a forward, regardless of wether he was a striker or a 2nd striker, he still played in the attack, so 1 in 4 is a very average return. The best goal scorer around these days Ronaldo isn't what you'd call a striker, but it doesn't hold him back
Actually not - Rooney has 63 assists for that period vs 54 for Drogba. One in four for Rooney vs one in 4.2 for Drogba. Had this debate with Liverpool fans plenty of times in the past - between 2004 and 2012 no player in the PL has more goals plus assists than Rooney. As Drogs says, he was definitely world class in his ability to create and score back then, even if he has dropped off sharply since. Particularly impressive considering Rooney was a support striker for RVN, Saha and Tevez for much of that period.
