This. At the end of the season yes 1 table matters, but it's like where we the blocks of 4, it's just something to use as a discussion point. The current table can't really be used to compare teams because majoriry of teams haven't played each other. If one team had played city arsenal Chelsea away and got 3 points, and another team played Norwich, Bournemouth and Watford at home and got 5 points, the league table would say the 2nd team is better but you've played easier teams etc.

It it doesn't look like they created it this year to try make our **** start look better, they do it every year it seems so it's just an interesting way of comparing how your team is doing given the opposition played.

Now they might be saying that because of that table were doing fine, which is obviously a load of bollocks, but as a talking point to see how we compare against rivals who have played different teams it's quite interesting.

Similar to comparing our results this year against same clubs last year, means **** all in this years table, but gives you a fair comparison to last year.

I don't agree that it gives you any such indication, as they all rely on either subjective opinion of what consitututes a tougher fixture, or what happened in previous meetings etc. In a league like ours where on their day any side can beat any other (e.g. West Ham and Leicester this season) then they're all completely meaningless imo.

  5. There are ways of looking at how your clubs season is going (such as your graphs or MITO's blocks of four etc) but ultimately, the fixture list does the same job.

The alternative tables just look desperate imo

The alternate table yes looks desperate because it suggests a final position, but the data is also used for the graph which just compares current progress with that expected to be good enough to qualify for CL which is fine

You can draw as many graphs and tables as you want but it won't cover up the fact that 2 goals and a total of 4 points out of 9 at home to West Ham, Norwich and Bournemouth is poor, especially as the only win was very lucky!

  10. Graphs and blocks is fair game, alternative tables are a joke.

PS...I wonder if your followers will notice me arguing against you (again) <whistle>

In the grand scheme, it depends what it's used for.

As as a comparison tool and something to provoke discussion, fine.

As something to show we aren't as shot as we think or were doing better than 16 other teams, it's a load of crap.

The idea of the graphs isn't to 'cover up' anything though, it's the reverse [if you're into that sort of thing] - it lays it all out there so you can see how well, or in our case, how poorly the team is doing.

I've no idea what that comment means <confused> I was pointing out that you rivals sing from the same hymn sheet so maybe you're all around the same computer.

Why are you all (apart from Astro) calling for Rodgers to be sacked if you've made the 4th best start in the league? I'm assuming that you agree with the chart and do think that Liverpool have made the 4th best start in the league.
