I just went by and the sign says October opening, but I have been assured by colleagues that today is the day. Suspect some of the new tenants have been given keys today, if perhaps not the official ribbon cutting day.
Nifty photo that...we should save it as is - City of culture and all that. Just as nice as the one in Spain ! http://www.spotahome.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/spain-1-356.jpg
Update on the George Lamb Memorial Chapel - Historic England completed a survey on 2nd Sept and concluded that the building was not unsafe and that there's no reason why the facade should not be saved. They have to file a full written report by Sept 29th, at which point the Council will hopefully throw out the demolition application again.
I don't know anything about a new pub on High St I'm afraid. There's Furley and Co, which is due to open on Princes Dock Street in the next month or so, did you mean that?
The one on High Street is owned by the fella who has Lion & Key and Hawkes (Alan Murphy??). I believe he has had numerous planning issues as the new pub is right next door to the block of flats, and there have been some objections from residents. I hope it gets through. His pubs are always nice and he's installing a micro brewery into it, which is good. I doubt it will be noisy hellhole of hedonism, but it seems there are a lot of hoops to jump through.
That Furley & Co opened its doors during the freedom festival. I only popped my head in for a nosey. There hadn't been any real referb done. I liked it. Bit of a time capsule. I hope they keep that character.
Yeah his pubs are good They seem even better in the winter Its the main reason ive started going back in town Quite like Walters and Old House as well Yeah i can't see it being noisy just dont have music
Yeah that's it. You may know better than me, in that case. Hope it hasn't been binned, might put him off trying more ventures.
The Batman in Hawkes mentiones a bit back it could be 2017 for Culture year but that seems a long time to me
I don't know that it's been binned, I was just assuming it had, as I haven't heard anything about it for a long time.
You can check any of these things out on line. There's a text or a map search that let's you see all the documents and reports. https://www.hullcc.gov.uk/padcbc/pu...play.do?action=display&searchType=Application If it's the Trinity Wharf one around 56 High St, it got permission to be changed to flats and a restaurant, but the change to being a bar seems to be where the more recent discussion is at.
Yeah thats right he owns it, its tied up in planning permission at the minute although I think Alan is still doing some internal work. Theres going to be a microbrewery in the cellar and the plan is to only stock their own beer in all their pubs (Hawkes, L&K and this new one). The new pub is a lot bigger than Lion and Key and will have more than one bar so will likely open in stages. From a reliable source
