Our wage bill was over £50m last season, in fact, we were in danger of exceeding the FFP limit.

Our wages were not low in comparison to other Premier League teams, we were very much in line with everyone else at our level.

Not sure how the wage bill is calculated, and whether the list on the back of the programme has any bearing on it. But looking at the size of the squad listed in many cases last season we had less players listed than other teams.

I think Swansea just had one of those days where nothing was going for them in front of goal. It happens, on another day their chances would've been goals. they held possession well, created alot and looked pretty solid throughout. They are a good footballing side, however we showed our metal, even with some first team absentees we were also very creative, more so in the second half.
We have showed our class, we can be a stubborn side to beat, certainly at home anyway. Great turn out too.

FFP limit isn't just wages. It depends on turnover as well. Our low turnover was more of a problem.
If in 2013-2014 the bottom 10 wages spanned from £20k to £30k per week and in 2014-2015 it would be a bit more. Norwich, Hull City and Crystal Palace were the only clubs on less than £25k per week in 2013-2014. Crystal Palace have seen sense by paying Cabaye £100k per week and Scott Dann £65k per week. I'm not saying they're worth it but it's a totally different wage structure to ours and it appears to be paying off. If we are happy to be in the bottom five in terms of wages in the Premier League we will have to risk relegation every year. Obviously playing without a good striker and having a ponderous midfield wont help but paying reasonable wages and paying them to the right players is better than going for the cheaper option.

    Not at the game then???
Meyler and Akpom forced their goalie into two good saves in the 1st half
Maloney nearly scored with a great free kick in the 2nd.
Did you not read my post properly??? because i clearly stated they where better

We had plenty of players on £40-50k a week last season.

Indeed. Would love City emulate the Swansea model. They're a well run side with a great bunch of fans.

Probably only Cardiff fans who won't say that Swansea deserve all the plaudits they've got over recent years.

There was a lot of that in the east stand, a stupid woman behind me said "is that lad up front playing,
    Lazy sod hasn't done anything".

At a guess, I'd say Livermore, Dawson, Huddlestone, Diame, Ben Arfa, Ramirez and Jelavic were all on that sort of money, I'm not sure about N'Doye or Hernandez.

Swansea can't have a turnover any greater than ours? The gates are similar to ours, if not smaller. Council owned stadium etc etc

Half of them were always likely to be short term - maybe not 4.5 exactly! Also about half of them were injured a lot. Maybe it's just a question of paying good money to players who dont get injured a lot in the future - like Charlie Austin!
Most of the rest of the players must have been on £10k-£25k with more nearer £15k.

I think N'Doye was on £40k + as he was on ridiculous money in Moscow.

That will probably be down to the fact that they finished further up the table?

So Swansea is the model to follow. Plus they made decent money on player transfers without compromising the squad strength. Bony/Davies etc. more than confirms that this is the model to follow.
