Not a wum thread, but you've got to say Chelsea as a club, including their supporters do well and truly lack class. Just look at how they defended and applauded Costa after his violent behaviour, the fact that Gabriel's red card has been removed, and Costa is being investigated for violent play, just goes to show what everyone knew about Saturday's incident. Yet Chelsea fans, and their manager applauded and praised this violent thug, what does that say about Chelsea as a club, and as a fan base? Then you look at all of Mo's childish outbursts and behaviour, and Chelski fans defend him and continue to praise him, again, it says a lot about Chelsea as a club and fan base when they're applauding someone like Mo for all his insults and swearing and unprofessional unsportsman like behaviour. So do Chelsea lack class? I think it's a resounding yes.
In particular, the fact that Mourinho called Costa MOTM for his part in the Arsenal game, was particularly indicative of how classless he is.
I think it also says a lot that most of our fans on the other hand, despite Gabriel having every right to beat the **** out of Costa, still said he should not have reacted and it was stupid.....While Chelsea fans are blatantly condoning and applauding Costa's violence.
Facts: They praise their philandering captain John Terry, who was found guilty by the FA of racial abuse. Those same fans hurl abuse at Anton Ferdinand for being racially abused. Another section of their fans stop a black man getting on the train and chant how they're proud of being racist. Their manager treats his medical staff in a despicable manner and could now face legal action. John Terry, Frank Lampard and other players were charged for mocking the family of 9/11 victims WEEKS after the event. That's the few I can think of off the top of my head. All clubs have moronic fans and players but Chelsea truly are a repugnant organisation, from the fans all the way to the manager. They all deserve each other but they'll never ever have the respect and prestige that other clubs have.
It's not just the fans...all I have heard on the radio since Saturday from various 'pundits' Is how clever Costa was because he won Chelsea the game with his antics. They call it 'the dark arts', disgusting behaviour from so called experts.
Don't forget John Terry shagging his team mates bird; Or Mourinho hiding in a laundry basket to cheat a touchline ban; Tapping up Ashley Cole; Death threats to referee Tom Henning Ovrebo for 3 years; Mutu failed drug test; Hazard assaulting a ball boy; And Cashley shooting a student on the training pitch. Truly class club, fans and employees......
It's not really surprising - they spent the best part of a 100 years vying with West Ham to be London's third best team and then suddenly came into a pile of ill-gotten dosh and brought their way to the top table.
I have to say, although City spent a disgusting amount of money following being bought, and the stadium was already built prior to the takeover, I haven't got anywhere near as much of a problem with City, I feel that the way they've developed the area around the ground, brought jobs to the area, have invested in their youth and seem to want (through building the hotels, training pitches, youth facilities, expanding the stadium and other investments) to try and build a foundation to the club so it will eventually become sustainable and won't crash if the owners ever decide to leave (True, they've got a long way to go yet!!!), whereas with Chelsea I've never got the impression that they've invested in anything other than the 1st team, or buying youngsters to stockpile and sell off at a later date, and they still seem a billionaires plaything, who will totally crash if he leaves.
City have been winning trophies off an on throughout their history and I think they will have been in the top ten or close to it by major trophies for many years eg in 1970 Arsenal would have had 10, Spurs 8 and City 8. Chelsea would have been on 4 then and stayed there for another 25 years before they got rich. Older City fans remember that and are grateful they are back in the mix.
One thing that sticks out for me is that City fans have stuck by their team through thick and thin over the decades when they were a huge second best to Utd. Chelsea fans seem to be a very fickle bunch of fair weather fans and glory hunters ( peppered with a few long term thugs and racists )
The other thing that this reinforced for me is that winning one trophy every 5 or 10 years made you a top club up to about 1980. Then money took over and cemented a few at the top.
Yup, totally classless at every level. Even their website lacks class. Their match report for the City game was totally deluded and a lot of their articles are totally unprofessional. You expect a club's site to be biased and skim over the bad stuff but Chelsea's reads like it was written by a petulent kid... or Mourinho.
