I was watching on a dodgy feed Marcus, so could be talking out of my arse, but to me it looked a clear foul but outside the box.

    Borini's goal looked legit.

Also De Michelis should have been off (mind you, we were losing 4-0 at the time, 70+ minutes!)

And our goal looked off-side (I repeat, on a dodgy stream).

So a bit they were better, a bit the ref was crap, a bit our defence was ****e as usual, a bit we were unlucky: at the end of the day we expected to go out, we haven't lost any points and hopefully the team will gel for more important games.

Have to say ref gave it. Linesman gave a free kick (ref wasn't even giving a foul!)

It was a free kick for me. Didn't have a clue at the time though, opposite end of the pitch.

Just got home, great idea to shut the A1m
Strange game,Sunderland were probably the better side but 0-3 down
From up in the clouds it didn't look a pen, nothing wrong with Borinis goal and OShea should've scored with his free header. Wasn't really much of a contest after that, both teams going through the motions

Hadn't realised how much of a mare Vito had in that first half.

Obviously just going off the score rather than actually watching the game

That's how Radio Newcastle saw it. We were giving City a game. But City get one opportunity and know how to take it. Sunderland get three opportunities, and end up with nothing. That's what makes us both who we are. Good luck to City - they came to do a job and did it.

Was Sterling onside? How could the defence have done better?

Have a look at about 16 seconds in. When the ball is played through to Sterling, Van Aanholt who is on the opposite side of the pitch where there's no action, is standing in an offside position.

If Van Aanholt had of stepped up and played the same defensive line as his colleagues, Sterling would have been offside.

The linesman just about wore himself out flagging for the penalty. Don't think the ref would have given a pen other than that.

Credit where it's due, that was really good football from Man City, quick and direct. Could be fussy and say Yedlin made it a bit to easy, but that would be harsh. Mannone was at fault for that goal, when a forward is coming in on goal, like that, the keeper should never ever be beaten at the near post. Very slack goalkeeping, should have done better.

Impressive, he's got real pace hasn't he and a cross to match by the looks of things. Again it's his defensive side of the game that has got people concerned, his positioning isn't there yet. I'll need to see more of him before passing judgement, in all honesty.

Yeah, that's the knock. That's what they said in the MLS as well. But here's a kid who went from college to the world cup in two years. The hope is that his progression will continue on a similar arc. The Spurs were in Seattle for a while, two summers ago, in preparation for a preseason friendly against the Sounders. Spurs signed him shortly afterwards. So they had a pretty good look beforehand.

On Sterling's goal, he's on his line but he looks a bit in no man's land. Seems to me like he should have challenged De Bruyne a little better on Sterling's goal. I have no idea where he should have been on De Bruyne's goal.

Sad thing is that the first one was less than a minute before they made it 0-2! Complete sucker punch

Thought Vito was to blame for 2 of their goals - not because one of them went in off him but he patted a tame cross back into the box when the defenders (and the crowd to be fair) expected him to simply grab the ball! He won;t be challenging Pantillimon with performances like that.

Another great thing was there wasn't a "mass walkout" (although we'd have gone had my boy had anything to do with it!!) at 0-4. People stayed - Sunderland got applauded from the field. Wasn't a terrible performance (and I guess Sergio felt sorry for us at 0-4!) and at 0-3 we'd been comfortably the better footballing side!
