Thankyou Radio Wales. I actually enjoyed listening to a Tigers match commentary today. No Pies, no bathroom breaks, no ridiculous banter about their totally unfunny off-radio exploits, no long-winded descriptions of boot colours. Just football...and very fair to our team too. They must have been really pissed at the final score!!
Well done lads. We missed our chances early on, but once you got the goal we huffed and puffed but never really troubled you. Hope you have a tidy team in the next round and have a good cup run
Ta mate. We knew we'd have to defend well, maybe ride our luck at times to go through because you've got a decent side. Good luck in the league.
Very entertaining game that, got to admit I was mesmerised by Jakupovic in goal, he is definitely the Jak with 9 lives. Loads of positives tonight, Hayden, Maguire can step in when needed, Akpom can play up front by himself v the best teams. Listening to Blunderside on the way home only heard one really stupid comment, the tactic of playing Akpom up by himself won us this match, 2 up front we would have been destroyed in midfield but still somebody felt the need to complain on air about that.
The crowd was actually unbelievable tonight, booing Robertson because he passed back to Jak under pressure ffs. Also had one nobhead near me just shouting 'forward!' the whole game, even when we didn't have the ball. We should be buzzing with that performance, when you play a team so technically superior you have to dig in really well.
Very impressed with your speed of passing tonight from a much changed team, everyone seemed to know where spaces where immediately and found a man nearly every time in the first half. The slightly unjustified booking of Robertson seemed to spark our lads into life and the game changed from then onwards. You became more desperate later, unsurprisingly, which played to our advantage, especially when we had two banks of 5 defending. Think you need another forward to take the burden off Gomez, but seemed like that last season when only Bony looked like scoring for you. Good luck for the rest of the season, except if we meet in the FA Cup.
Could have been 7-0 down after about 20 minutes (not an exaggeration), but after the goal we were much better, and defended very well second half. Even with the changes, that was a strong Swansea side, better than most first teams we'll face in the Championship. Davies was excellent, Livermore was good, Hayden very impressive, Akpom worked hard and Maloney looked tidy. On a lesser note, I thought Maguire was poor and Taylor was downright dreadful. I really don't know what Bruce was thinking giving that lad a contract. He's simply far too slow to be a full-back and his reading of the game is nowhere near good enough to compensate. If he'd stayed on, I doubt we'd have won. I think he has to become a holding midfielder or change his game somehow if he wants to have a career at any level, never mind with us.
Fella behind me stood up and said, "Well, that was dreadful," when the ref blew the final whistle. We had a shocker of a start but for 70 minutes we dug deep and defended well against a decent side.
Amazing to snatch that 1-0. Davies was class - yet to see anybody keep Gomis in their pocket in th PL like he did for the last half hour. Robertson is quickly growing as a player (a few crosses aside). Maloney looks class - not afraid to have the ball in tight spaces and turn with it. Hayden is such a calming influence in the middle of the park. Jak is actually a comedy act. Hilarious stuff. Akpom did well alone - won a fair number of headers (particularly late on).
