Do you want to reassess your view , we played before the half time with pace accuracy and creativity , obviously the game plan changed for Hull and therefore for us as well as they were holding the lead . http://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/10002138/hull-1-0-swansea?
Agree Matt. Dai our issues are our forward line, not midfield or Britton, Siggy cannot hit a barn door with a banjo, and Routs couldn't score in a brothel, Dyer has been miss managed by Monk and we now look toothless up front unless we have Gomis and Ayew pairing in the starting line-up, let's hope they stay sharp and fit all season, otherwise we will struggle for goals.
Britton is no captain material and should not be playing in a game we should be winning. the whole tactics and team selection was all wrong....we blew our chance of winning a cup because of the manager....
I don't think it was tactics that was wrong, Monk is getting comfortable and with that complacent, but he new what he was doing tonight, and I can only asume he has targeted the FA Cup this season..........
Routledge fluffed two clear chances of scoring tonight? Need we say any more about this very average player that can do no wrong in Monks eyes? NO wonder Dyer wanted out being behind this very poor Routs.......
Will Monk bench Routledge? Well he didn't last season, preferring to bench the in form Dyer instead? Though he will not be able to bench Dyer this season!!....... What you all need to know is that Routledge is Monks best pal down the bookies!!
I'm just wondering if his team selection had any bearing on the fact that a lot more of the first team regulars will be involved in crucial Euro qualifiers in 2 weeks time where it's crunch time for qualification. If he plays Williams, Taylor, Shelvey from the start in the Hull game, then v. Southampton and Spurs and 2 international matches then they will come back wrecked. A couple of seasons ago, the international breaks were more of a rest for most of the squad because they weren't involved. It's interesting to see which teams played their best side tonight and which didn't. From a cursory glance, Everton, Man City, West Ham ,Villa put out strong selections. Swansea, Bournemouth, Sunderland, Leicester didn't.
After watching the video we played some really good stuff to be fair. Really can't see how Monk gets it in the neck for 5 glaring misses but there you go.
Yeah, I guess he put out a team that he thought could win and if we had stuck some chances away, we would have done so. But...did they not put the chances away because they haven't been playing regularly, therefore to be "assured" of winning the game he should have played a stronger starting lineup. We seem to have the same debate every year. Apart from the year we won it (Seem to remember scraping through at Crawley in that year though, coming from behind?) The League Cup always seems to be a tricky balancing act.
That's right Aswan. I'm happy to have a go at Monk if it's deserved but I just don't see it this time. Those players were more than capable of winning that game but couldn't finish. That's not monk's fault imo.
I'm far from happy with that result.Never mind Monk is "targeting" the FA Cup he should be targeting every game as far as I'm concerned. God help us if we get long term injuries up front. The back up is not good enough.
We did play some good stuff, but with no final finishing, some of those misses, especially Routledge's were criminal, who is responsible for where Dyer is? Who is responsible for playing a very poor Routledge? Well that would be the Manager of course, and Monk in my view has still got a lot to learn in man management skills. I have no doubt we would have got the result if Gomis and Ayew had started, but that was never going to happen with League commitments. Routledge has been poor for a few seasons now, and has forgotten where the net is, not good enough any more..........
Monk put out a team that rested our best players, what we put out was good enough for lower league, but no way good enough for Hull, who are always going to be up for a cup fight, while waiting to return to the Premiership............
Three away games against teams we should and could have won and didn't. It's starting to be a bit concerning.
He leaves out our main players so we deserved to loose. I dont call keeping the ball and passing backwards good play at all. we have gone past that now and putting more long balls forward to at least give us a chance at goal. 3 meek shots on target after 67% possession is very poor and hull are a division below.....We should have fielded ash to captain the team and our main strike force and midfield to get the goals and then take them off and replace with fringe players if they do that. To field a team that can only pass the ball without pressing hull was stupid and wrong that has ruined our chances of progressing to the latter stages and winning a cup....
We are a PL team. On another night or with a half decent finisher we'd have won easily. The only problem with Monk is, that he should have signed another decent striker who knows how to score goals.
