RP. We all share the same concerns and we largely agree on what is wrong. But getting the fix and the season back on track is going to be the biggest challenge and the games don't get any easier looking at what's coming up after MK Dons at home.
Very true, but all the good of last season has gone in eight games. very very disappointing for the club to enter the championship the way they have.
Please remind me - did we actually make it to the Championship or did we miss a turning somewhere along the way? Worse still - are we hopelessly lost in a land where we don't understand the language?
FOR SOME REASON this is the first time I have read this thread, but going by the title I would think we do as there is a bleeding great hole on one side of the ground.... That apart I have for years been going to many football grounds and visited unofficially board rooms and other parts,( sneakily with the excuse, Im lost I am looking for where to put my exhibit ! ) as part of exhibitions that these clubs put on for third parties, for instance last season MKD put on an exhibition for a new car they had about 20 in the exhibition area, models, variations and colours etc they likely got paid 10's of 1000's for that, Leeds Birmingham regularly had 2 or 3 events on the same day, and a whole host of others do similar every day or every week I bet the income is more than £1 000 000 plus pa and other franchises a fair deal more I would suspect that the AG MODIFICATIONS ARE LIKELY TO BE money returned on out lay = 10 years maybe 15 years WHATS OUR CURRENT PLAYERS Wage bill? an extra £1m in the pot would help that! AS for knocking SL he didn't get to be a billionaire by sitting on his ass and letting things "hopefully" go right or get done.. same at AG since our defeat by Hull, HE HAS TRIED to get things organised, in business it is sometimes better to let things crash then pick up the pieces than trying to keep on trying to mend things or gloss them over ... that worked = League one.. gave us some glory Wembley, League title, now we have a new stadium a better base and income stream, so we now need to secure our place in the second grade .. NOBODY ON HERE can say what went wrong why it went wrong or that the "plan" was faulty as to why we are players short. one thing that is clear SC IS TRYING TO GLOSS THINGS OVER rather than state the obvious, we are not winning games and we need to do something about it .. .. we have a squad, we have some good players we just need to get things to pan out in our favour . SC is the only one that can do that at the moment... I think his main problem is self denial that what he believes is going to work, we can only hope that it does but not with 6 games to go and 19 points for safety!
First thing he needs to get his head out of the sand, admit we are up **** street and ty and steady the ship. problem being he ain't done either yet. i do question what is going on at the gate. No change then we are going down without a fight.
A forty million pound project is hardly a modification. According to Martin Griffiths the redevelopment will generate as much income as the abandoned project at Ashton Vale. That will be a far larger sum than one million pounds per annum. The outlay will be owed to the owner - Steve Lansdown, he also services the debts - nine and half million last season, twelve the season before that ... And still people demand much much more.
loose terminology £40m /10 = £4m or by £40 / 15 = £ 2.5m both figures are more than £1m plus ! 2% INTEREST ON 1 BILLION IS £20 MILLION AND YOU CANT SPEND THAT ON BEER A YEAR!
I know I keep saying this, andyour probably all fed up with reading it, but yes I'm worried about our season so far, and whats going on behind the scenes at the moment, BUT to go to games and start moaning, groaning and booing if over next few weeks things still don't pick up, this will NOT help the club/players. We need to keep getting behind the team and hope Cotts/City and all things turn around sooner rather than later. Fingers crossed by start of new year we will be in a better position and look back at this and think "god remember the start we had". if not then even I will start to demand some changes before its too late, but that's not yet! even if we are all scared stiff at mo.
Well I was in the Atyeo singing area on Saturday and they certainly started with plenty of gusto but this gradually deflated as we toiled away to no effect. I certainly didn't notice the support turning on the team though, we are a way off that yet....
what is it you are worried about behind the scenes? how much cash city are losing? the massive redevelopment that will in future help fund players? dont agree with that?
That's all very well and good but are the owner/board going to oversee another relegation and a few years back in L1 first with gates of 10,000 ? Last season our players sweat blood and worked their balls off to get here, but football doesn't stand still. We were a fairly large fish in L1 but we're minnows at best in the Championship, but lack of awareness and seemingly criminally bad preparation for life at this level have us on the back foot already and it isn't going to be easy to turn this around.
What is it you are suggesting. get rid off SL SC KB stop the redevelopment/bin the academy? spend millions the club does not have get in eleven costly foreigners and never have a football club standing on its own two feet? is that it?
Sounds like a great idea to me then we can get someone in like Vincent Tan, Assem Allam, Massimo Cellino or Karl Oyston, now they know how to run a football club
Nope. Am merely stating that we are most definitely heading in the wrong direction right now and that people who are in charge of the club are to blame. It's not difficult to see where the blame lies surely ? You could blame the players, but most of them aren't up to Championship standard, and therefore it's not really their fault that they are being asked to compete against teams who have superior personnel in their ranks. Had we done our business in strengthening the squad as soon as last season finished, and like a lot of teams did, it wouldn't have costs millions or necessarily filled the team with costly foreigners. If the owner and board are happy to oversee us always being a yo-yo club between L1 and the Championship then that's their business, but they might aim a little higher don't you think ?
e stadium being rebuilt, the academy is now cat 2, training ground facilities upgraded and in bristol sport brought in to run the corporate section to increase revenue is aiming higher. Can somebody explain without the above and putting City tens of millions into more debt how City can afford to aim higher? It does appear like people want a Vincent Tan etc and as long as the results last for the results fans it would not matter if city were hundreds of millions in debt with a team of eskimoes starting as the eleven. to my nid city should be aiming higher than doing what Pompey did and nearly went out of existence for.
So I can only assume that you are happy with our league position and form, and that you wouldn't want to have seen the squad strengthened ? As I said earlier, assembling a team capable of survival this season for starters shouldn't have cost tens of millions which is clearly unaffordable and unsustainable. God forbid we should be relegated this season, but if we are, then all of the glory and achievements last season will have been for absolutely nothing and that will be the biggest crime of all.
Things are not going well on the pitch - to some extent that's how football goes. From the outside our summer transfer window appears to be a shambles - only those inside the club will know how it unfolded (or if you wish unravelled). The squad needs re-inforcements and while we can proably do one or two loans before the window (league restrictions) and free-agents (Kevin Nolan anyone?), it's likely to be january before it can be properly sorted. Of course this is the right forum for us all to talk and express how we are feeling (both positive and negative) - however at the ground WE MUST STAY BEHIND THE TEAM As far as the ground goes, theis is something that Steve L can do outside the FFP regulations - it will then generate more income that will help us to strengthen the team going forward within those regulations. We are lucky because our owner cares about Bristol and Bristol City like we all do. He's not going to leave us in the lurch by overspending, changing the kit, changing the name, calling the stadium after himself then getting bored and walking away like most foreign owners. Doing things properly takes time - there will be up's and down's along the way - just remember where we were 2 years ago! COYR!
And where it looks like we will be come May 2016, back where we came from. The whole pre-season seems a complete and utter non start from what we are seeing at present.
There is a lot of football to be played between now and then (and let's remember that in 4 home games it was only the Reading game that we were beaten comprehensively). A couple of wins and it all looks very different. If the worst happens we dust ourselves off and try again.
