And neither were first choices for FSG. By reliable accounts, Klopp and AVB were top choices.

Please no AVB. I don't understand why high profile clubs ever consider him. He is worse than Rodgers.

  3. A manager having a set system only works if you're able to buy the best players in the world!

Managers need to have a idea of how he wants a team to play but also needs to be flexible with those ideas. There is always a way to beat a system and style of play.

I've never lumped in the costs of signing on fees for your frees onto Gnashers net spend, as its heinous enough without trying to inflate it <laugh>

But seeing as you mention it - Ings wasn't free, you paid Burnley a compo fee.....

We would have been relegated a couple of years ago.

Doubt it - Martinez set the Swans on course for the PL. BR merely built on his and Sousa's work.

The trouble with Brenda is that he believes his own publicity.....

I believe he means over his time at Woodison. Which is around £77m.

Which lets be honest in PL terms isn't a lot of cash. Martinez may not have pulled up trees at Everton but he's recruited pretty well and they're a good team to watch. Judge a manager in his third season (apparently) and I think Everton look pretty good in Martinez's third season. Liverpool in Rodgers' third and fourth seasons have looked below par given the time and investment.

I wouldn't say we're below par given the time and investment.

I would say we're absolutely miles below par!

    A horrific return on investment.

And they built on Brian Flynn & Kenny Jackett's work. It doesn't lessen their achievements that the managers before them also did well. Paisley isn't criticised for being successful after Shankly laid down the foundations. As we saw with Souness & Moyes it isn't easy following a successful manager.
