Rodgers, Klopp, who else?

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by Flappy Flanagan (JK), Sep 17, 2015.

  1. I don't all that is the same. Obviously, the maximise their return then all that stuff matters but they have already got a massive return on their investment which is only growing with time.

I won't moan about the owners because they took us from almost extinction to a financially solid structure. I do agree they need to let more knowledgeable people concentrate on footballing issues though.

That was my concern on the should he be sacked thread. They've done their job business wise. We have more money coming in due to both their work and the tv deals. I think the entire approach on the football side has to change with a new manager. Trust the new guy be it a DofF or total control with the manager. Show the fans who exactly is in charge of the team both on the pitch and how it continues to be improved upon.

If they are not prepared to pay to attract the very best players then be honest, say why and then admit they accept we won't be challenging for the silver.

No point having targets then straight jacketing the manager with third or fourth choices that won't get the target achieved.

    Enough of this committee nonsense.

  3. And less money going out as a result of a reduced wage bill. Add to that that we had a net spend of just £10m this summer, where did all that money go? (expecting Tobes to swing in around about now <laugh>)

We've shown we are willing to spend big on players, we just aren't getting the right players. Why not? Only reason bar the CL football argument can be wages. We offer a low basic wage boosted with bonuses etc. If someone else is willing to offer a higher basic wage, they go elsewhere. Even if they could earn more with us if they gained the bonuses, why would players take it if a little less (but more in terms of basic) is available without the need of effort?

Perhaps FSG see Brodge as on probation and didn't want to finance him heavily in case they decided a new man needed a chance?

    /fingers crossed

  5. We still spent massive despite having a low net spend <laugh>

We were mid-table on the net spend table. Pretty sure we'd be near the top of the gross spend charts (not seen this)

Sadly, Dalglish is testament to that :( I think in his case, though, it was a question of him not moving with the times and underestimating how much the game had changed since the 90s. For all that, we won a trophy under him in his second tenure. We should have given him longer, but as usual, hindsight is a wonderful thing. We were too impatient. It beggars belief, therefore, that the owners have persisted this long with Rodgers.

Rafa is much loved at Liverpool, though at the end of his time it did go a bit tits up, but personally, I didn't appreciate how much he had been affected by the H&G hoo-haa and I called for his head. Holding my hands up to that! I wished I hadn't, but back then it was so long since the title, and now, three managers down the line we're still waiting...what's the difference?! We might as well have stuck with RB and who knows...who knows...?

I'd have him back in a heartbeat, but I'd hate him to fail a second time! This is the risk. :(

Agree that we should never go back and I stand by that if Klopp is available.

But if the choice was between keeping Rodgers and only Rafa as an alternative, easily pick Rafa.

Agree - everything we do will come with a risk. But it's about mitigating that risk. The risk of appointing a manager who has won league titles and has European experience is significantly lower than a manager who has achieved nothing in his career bar promotion.

Based on the photos I wouldn't have guessed. Looks very attractive. However, the voice always gives them away. Big turn off: women that sound like men. Even more than regular women who talk.

    Found this funny:

"Now the makeup artist is hoping to inspire other transgender women to embrace who they are."

How is having a sex change and a literal "butt load" of cosmetic surgery "embracing who you are"... That sounds like "changing Who you are".
