Based on recent form and ability this is who I think should be our usual starting XI. ...............Ming Clyne Skrtel Sakho Gomez .......Can...... Lucas Hendo....Cout...... Ings ..............Studge................ Moreno to alternate with Gomez. Gomez when we need a defensive bias, Moreno when we need an attacking bias. Thought on who you would include? Benteke and Firminio I would slowly give experience to until they learn to fit our team. Milner I would bring on when we need an extra bulldog. Someone to snap at a few heals. Not sure why Ibe is having a poor season. I'd give him experience from the bench.
You don't need Gomez if Sakho is playing. Gomez was only need because Lovren was incapable. I would start Migs Clyne Gomez Sakho Moreno Can Milner Coutinho Firmino Sturridge Ings The team is quite young and will make mistakes, and attack minded but Rodgers clearly is incapable of setting up defensively so he may as well go all out.
Don't think there was much wrong with the team that started yesterday, other than Can should have been playing in Midfield instead of in a back 3. Whats wrong is the tactics and motivation, an entire half of football went by against a newly promoted team and we barely did anything against them.
I'd prefer Lovren is told to learn to play RCB since he's right footed so we can drop Skrtel Every second he spends backing off the opponent puts the ball closer to our goal and increases the distance we have to cover on the counter It kills us both ways
I thought Lucas payed well against Norwich. It was noticeable that when he went off they had more of the ball in midfield
Goodness no. Skrtel is far superior to Lovren. Not saying he's blameless but of the two it's Lovren that is worse.
Skrtel has good moments and bad moments. Lovren has bad moments and worse moments. If Aguero were charging at goal I'd rather have Skrtel face him. If we were attacking at a corner, I'd rather have Skrtel. If we needed someone to clear the ball, I'd rather have Skrtel. The only time I'd rather have Lovren is defending a set piece. Ideally we get a new RCB in January... Or if Gomez can play RCB, he does.
This is one of the biggest issues with Rodgers now. We know he can't set us up to defend, but now we don't have a good attack either. We are now boring which is inexcusable.
Don't think he'd played LB prior to joining us. Certainly no one expected Gomez to play LB against Stoke!
Him and Firminio wouldn't get near my first team but as this is a thought exercise there probably is no wrong answers. Besides picking Lovren that is.

You deserve to be slaughtered. Lallana is average in his favoured attacking midfield role, let alone in CM.
