Martial as made a very good start but it is also very early days. Obviously, from your perspective it is better that he started well than not.

I just think the first game comparisons to Henry were cringeworthy at best. Good goal but shockingly bad defender to allow it to happen, Martial hardly moved never mind touching the ball. Not saying he won't or can't come good, clearly the lad as ability.

 

But its worth considerably more in terms of the confidence it gives the players and the level it sets in terms of what's possible.

 

I don't know a single United fan who's said he's the new Henry. That comparison seems to have come from the media as well as opposition fans who have said "ridiculous to say he's the new Henry"

Van Gaals crab football at its best. What you did in 35 of the passes was go back and forth left and right it was only the last 10 passes you turned it on and schweiny played a great ball and depay with some great tricks to hit the post.

As for your other 2 goals, as flukey as pool, first one was offside and even then a slide tackle got it to martial and then the 2nd goal the jap defender must have been celebrating too much the night before when Japan beat south africa to play martial in. Otherwise, Southampton had the better of the chances.

Having said all that Martial did brilliantly for the 1st goal and for the 2nd i liked how he did steckleburg with the eyes.

United are winning games without playing that well at present, but they're controlling the ball well and if Martial and Depay can provide them with a solid goal tally I think they'll prove hard to beat as the season moves on, as I think they'll stiffle opponents.

They look a better side when the Germans on the pitch imo. He's a class act that fella, positionally brilliant.

 

Yea Schweiny looks a class apart. Properly running the show and controlling the game as well as playing brilliantly through balls. He's been to me the best acquisition United have made.
