Some very interesting articles out tonight about how Rodgers is entering the eye of the storm now which implies he's close to the sack.

He has 4 winnable home games coming up and FSG are expecting maximum points (or close to).

Another interesting point is that Gordon is on the committee, not Ayre, For those who don't know, Gordon is very senior within FSG and is a shareholder and the article implies that Gordon was the one who forced Rodgers to play the committee signings last year after Xmas, coinciding with our upturn in results - which also highlights the internal politics going on.

Gordon however was instrumental in keeping Rodgers for this season insisting that the club need to remain calm.

Also, quite a few rumours that Sakho's new deal was ordered by the club and not Rodgers.

Never a dull day here ...

From what I heard, a fair few of the board wanted Rodgers out but it was Gordon who put his foot down and basically said no.

Far too much politics inside our club at the moment. It can't be good. It's definitely not helping Rodgers as he's getting worse and worse.

The echo reported similar in the summer, that is was a few key fsg people who wanted Rodgers to stay, hence my belief we are stuck with him for a long time now. Let the mediocrity continue...

    doubtful,

these are business men not idiots, they may be clueless about football or have little knowledge of it, but they will take notice when profits start plummeting or fans stop going to games or buying merchandise etc etc.

they may just being stubborn (they are american) and trying to prove a point as they wanted brendan and giving him more time than others have had or deserved in similar scenarios as they wont want to admit they was wrong or he was the wrong man and they chose him, ie failure.

After a really poor half season last year, Rodgers kept quiet and changed formation which led to a great run. He then opened his mouth and said we could finish 2nd. Since then:

    Played 14
    Won 4
    Draw 3
    Loss 7
    Goals scored 12
    Goals conceded 24

    Win % - 28.5%

    1 year at Watford
    6 months at Reading
    1 year at Swansea

Why are we giving him so much time?

you know why jimmy, we have clueless, spineless, amatuerish owners.

makes me laugh they are quick to sack a manager who gets a club to 2 cup finals in a season( how many clubs achieve that ?!!!) yet sacked as not top 4 finish, yet brendan has failed how many times to achieve that ffs.

i have as much faith in our owners as i do the manager lol, ****all !!

Managers rarely do as well the second time around. But yes, I'd take Rafa back. Or Rafa's brains... Pako.

    4 winnable games coming up?

Sounds like an ideal time for a new manager to transition in.

Owners don't have to know football further than winning games good not winning games bad. Getting into Europe good not getting in bad. Winning trophies good, not winning trophies bad.

A lot of the above sounds like utter speculation. I mean so far we're saying we actually do have a sporting director in Gordon who is dictating both aquisitions and team selection apparently..Jesus Christ is it not bad enough that Rodgers is failing without making up utter bullshit to take away the Times he's got stuff right?

I mean seriously...that just sounds bitter and pathetic.

I think it was more than just that. He was only ever meant as a stop gap and I think his age also played a part, not seen as a long term option.

  20. I agree there was more to it than that. When they arrived the fans were calling for Woy's blood so that had to act. They sacked Woy and appointed Kenny, two things that very much pleased the fans. However, Kenny then probably did better than expected and they had to keep him longer than the first few months they initially intended imo. they sacked him as soon as they got the opportunity. What's kicked them in the nuts is Brod not being as successful as they'd hoped. that's made the sacking of Kenny not getting fourth look hypocritical when looking at Brod's reign.

I don't think the Suarez stuff was a major part of their thinking. They wouldn't have been happy but I don't think it would have been a priority talking point when discussing Kenny's future.

I agree on age too <ok>
