We all have our own opinions on certain players and why not, we are allowed. The person that counts is koeman and his staff. Will he feedback to pelle about the negatives and the part of his game he needs to improve or will he be the first name on the teamsheet for the next game again......
Indeed. Let's step back and direct our attention to a matter of greater concern: the shocking lack of shirtlessness displayed this season. We're going to lose the female fan base if this continues.
Just seen his Tom. WTF? Are you saying that it was ok for Pelle to give up because a team mate gave a goal away and the manager may have made a wrong tactical decision? If so, awful. It is a team game and no matter who you are, you stick together.
i coach a boys team. I don't mind if the boys make a mistake trying to do the right things that they've been coached to do. I simply can't stand it if they don't try and find it unacceptable.
On an entirely different note, I hope Morgan was able to hear our chant for him after the final whistle (though the United fans were rather louder at that point).
Ok avoided posting yesterday as so gutted. In my view Ron got it wrong when we chsnged tactics aftrr thr first30 mins and GP moved from Blind to Smalling. We gave the iinitiative to Umited and never got it back. Players heads went down especialy GP. Hopefully Ron will learn from this and the best medicine is to thrash swanses on Saturday.
So we're blaming Pelle, who scored twice, and Davis, who was the only player not to give the ball away once in the 2nd half? More than once I've come on here and wondered what game some of you have been watching. The relentless negativity of some of our fans, & the constant need to scapegoat, is embarrassing. Negatives; we were outclassed for maybe 40% of the game. This will happen from time to time against the top sides. Positives; when we did get the ball, we threatened continously. And at least we finished with a flourish.
He was our best player when he came on yesterday. That's not a fact,Iit's an opinion. But it's nice when your opinion of a player is born out by the stats. As for Pelle, the only stat that matters for a striker is how many goals he gets; and he keeps scoring em.
I partly agree with your first part. I can't agree with the second part in the game today. Being a striker is not just about goals. I am delighted with his goal scoring but how many top premier league managers say that defending starts from the front. Well it doesn't if you've turned your back and are arguing with a team mate. I'm seeing a pattern.off the top of my head, Everton, Watford ( where he sulked down the tunnel when subbed), WBA and now United are all games where this lack of simply facing up when the keeper or opposing defenders get the ball has happened. I can forgive Maya (or any player) making a genuine mistake, but a player having too many sulking/not trying/walking/prima Donna like ( however we describe it) is not something I want to see in my team unless the player is that good (Le Tiss) we carry him.
Reading this thread, I haven't felt that anyone is blaming Pelle for the loss. People are just pointing out that he went missing for a chunk of the game. And it's OK to be frustrated by that. As for Davis, I agree. The people who shout him down are the people who shouted at Jack Cork. Unflashily excellent play seems rarely to be rewarded by fans. Could be worse, the Echo is full of people saying we need to dump Yoshida. Apart from the scuff yesterday I thought he was perfectly acceptable. Not a world-class RB (why would he be?) but quite a way above OK. Vin
I'm not blind to Pelle's shortcomings, FLT. Every player has them. But it appears to me that you only see his short comings, and through a bloodybig mmagnifying glass at that. We'll have to disagree about the key role of a striker in the modern game; players who consistently find the back of the net are rare as hen's teeth. And as for the pouting and theatricality, he's Italian ffs. Have you been to Italy?
Took the foot of the gas after 25 mins. Don't agree with Davis coming on for Romeu as they moved through our midfield too easily after he came off. Disappointing as I thought it's looked poor and they still beat us. Targett injured? Cedric not fit? Weather was great. Swansea next and we'll win if we play like we did in the first 25 for the whole match!
I only see his short comings Archers? Do you only see when I criticise him then and miss the praise? Come on, please tell me you read me saying how great he was first half. I'll go back to my previous point. I can't stand "not trying" and recently there's been too much of that, not the theatrical Italian arms. It's the walking slowly back when he could be just jogging back into position.
